Me too, I started him on my fantasy team just because of this...I hope he gets 200 yards and 3 TDs. DD
Me too...except I like the Cowboys. I liked hearing about his relationship with the Paytons. He sounds like a real friend and was there for Walter's son, since he couldn't be there. GO EMMITT!
Barry's lack of the opportunity shows u TRULY how deeply detroit SUCKS!!1 I hate that team . . .for what they did to barry Rocket River but. . if not barry . . . Emmit is kewl too
BTW, from what I've seen Emmitt may get a good gain and then a big loss. (+9, -6.) In other words, Emmitt could become the rushing leader and then become 2nd place again. In fact, maybe he could break the best record 6 times.
Wayne Fouts screwed Barry out atleast 25 touchdowns. Barry would run all the way to the 1 yard line then he would put Ron Rivers in the game.
Coming up next week: all the Troy Hambrick you can handle. Coming up after the season: Emmitt Smith retiring. Congrats to him breaking the record, but he's gotta be near retirement.
BTW, why did Barry retire? I thought it was because of the Lions organization. On FOX, Terry Bradshaq said Barry didn't want to break Payton's record, so he retired. So, will he come back to break Emmitt's record? (man, that sounds cool. Emmitt's record.) I think it was just Terry being an idiot.
The Lions forced him into retirement? Using that logic, I guess Corey Dillon should retire, because he's on the crappiest organization. I don't care who BS (appropriate initials) played for, he quit on his teammates and the only franchise he's ever played for.
Its nice that a man's hardwork can bring him great recognition. So congratulations to Emmitt Smith. However, I think the pursuit of the record has been a distraction to the Cowboys. All they did was run the ball, and Emmitt got more carries than he usually gets. The main thing was scoreboard at the end. The Cowboys lost (which doesn't bother me , since I hate the Cowboys). Its nice to reflect and celebrate a record, but lets remember why the game is played...to win.
They also had a QB who had never started a meaningful game in several years. Did you think they were going to have him throw 50 passes? They ran a lot, yes. Some of it was due to Emmitt's record, but some of it was because of a rookie QB. BTW, Emmitt did do pretty well with the rushing attempts. Well, I try.
