And that's why, IMHO, if she gets the Dem nomination, she'll win the election.

I didn't always think that way. I used to think her many negatives would ensure that she lost, but I'm now convinced that if she gets the Dem nomination, women from both parties will vote for her in droves, sealing her victory.

Not to mention she has some of the best political hacks in the country working for her campaign.

 based on what, economic incentive? let me ask you, do you think roads are built better than they were just 10 years ago. do you think our teachers know more than just ten years ago? what proof do you have that gov't involvement stops progress?

economics is not the only incentive. the gov't doesn't have an economic incentive to provide one of the best armies in the world. but it does. the gov't has an incentive to protect its people. if it wants to remain a viable government

Yeah, I honestly think HRC, if nominated, will lose to just about anyone or any *thing* the GOP nominates. I think it's that bad -- it's just too easy to smear her with irrational topics, the GOP weapon of choice.

I wish this was not the case, and I hope I'm wrong.

I do believe we'll have a female president within the next 20 years, but I think she will have a sense of humor.

No, but there should be a standard that somehow puts Trader_J to the curb. The problem, I think, is that some of the mods (or Clutch) think he's funny, and sometimes he is. Not often.

How many presidents have been black or a woman again? How many have been middle aged white guys. I don't think the Edwards can claim reverse discrimmination here. This isn't college.

Maybe its because Edwards comes off as a separator with his two americas theme. And maybe people remember how Kerry and he couldn't beat the r****d and the grinch in the last election.

The problem is she doesn't need most republican women, she just need some republican women to vote for her. It really doesn't matter if 40% of all women hate her, all she cares about is the 60%. I am guessing the voter turnout will be greater for the 60% then the 40%.

And if the idea of first female president brings out a lot more women voters, it will be tough for the Republicans. But she does have major flaws, let's hope those can exploited enough to create an upset.

i think you overestimate the number of women with republican values, or even the number of women who vote.

we'll see. Hillary has extraordinarily high negatives, that have stayed constant for years. there's a huge portion of the overall electorate, close to 50%, that simply wont vote for her. that means she has to win ALL the votes of those who would consider it- not an easy thing to do, especially if the republicans field a string candidate. i'm not saying she wouldn't be formidable in a general election, just that she'd have to run an almost perfect campaign, and hope the republicans make a mistake.
