As bad as the drafts were when everyone wasn't on the same page,CD's trades and free agency signings over the years have more than compensated.
Yao helps but this team hasn't recovered. Our overall talent surrounding Ming and T-mac is sub par. We have Battier who tends to disappear against the elite teams in the regular season and in the playoffs. By the end of Ming's career we might have recovered enough to make it to the WCF once if we run off JVG now before he wastes even more time.
Ohh...saying stuff like that hurts, come on man, believe in your Rockets. ...Besides, sub-par talent? We're not the Dallas Mavs in depth, but we're certainly not the Boston Celtics either.
We also don't have a $92.3 million roster like Dallas. If we took our current roster, added Kevin Garnett ($21 million) and another player for $6 million.... then we'd be spending as much on our roster as Dallas does.
Mmm...KG...that formula looks good. But then again, nobody says we don't have a $140 million roster like New York.
Well, if you know some one who can just money like that around, please have him sit down with Les. I'm also suprised somebody from China haven't bought the Rockets yet. I mean I know there are some real ballers there right now, and nothing gets you stature like the first Chinese owners of an NBA team.
Agreed. Thinking time is valuable. We shouldn't waste it on Eddie Griffin. Let's think about our rotation instead.
To be fair... Norris, Cato, and Taylor were all at least tradeable, though in junk for junk moves (except Cato). Bryce Drew was traded for a pair of 2nd round picks (Chicago). I don't remember who those picks became. The Mirsad Turkcan example is VASTLY over-critiqued on this board. We traded him before the season began for a future first rounder from NY -- all in all, a lateral move. It only hurts because the pick was supposed to be Rashard.... As for Eggie, maybe we can feel a bit better in that Brandon Armstrong is gone, and Jason Collins is a pretty mediocre player. Of course, you could also say we could have Jefferson, Zach Randolph, and Tony Parker right now.
They went to the Utah Jazz in the John Amaechi trade, Utah selected Robert Whaley in 2005 and Dee Brown in 2006, just one pick later after Dee Brown Utah selected Paul Millsap with their own pick...but we got Steve Novak, yay
