In the south of the capital, a heart-wrenching scene played out at a primary school that collapsed.

Twenty children and two adults were killed at the Enrique Rebsamen school, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto said late Tuesday after visiting the site. At least 30 second-grade students were still missing along with eight adults, some of them teachers, authorities said.​

 

I hope we get people out there to help.

It's unfortunate that the story of the trapped girl got so much attention when it turns out it wasn't true. Things like this though happen at a major disaster. There is a lot of confusion and rumors.

 

Notoriously amazing what nature has done this year.

 

It's true. This year is one for the books, and it hasn't ended. Two devastating hurricanes hit the continental United States on either side of the Gulf, and two huge earthquakes hammer Mexico. That's "just" the United States and Mexico. The damage in the Caribbean to so many islands, including a US territory (that ought to be a state, but that's another issue), is incredible, and with yet another storm making its way through the region, it isn't over yet.

Crazy.

I wonder if all the testing North Korea have done is triggering quakes.

There are major disasters every year but this year is unusual that we've had a few hitting the Northern hemisphere in a short period of time. More reason why we always need to be prepared for disasters, build better infrastructure and better building codes.
