Has any body run into errors while trying to copy a DVD (for back up purposes);). I will get an error saying that a sector has been encrypted. Do's anybody know a way around this?

Are you trying to re-author a DVD? If you use the backup option, you shouldn't ran in to that kind of problem.

I like to run DVD Decryptor first, creating the raw data files that I can then compress with DVD Shrink. Works very will and is so simple that anyone can do it (except my mother, who can't copy a CD or access her own email account).

I've had this happen. I use DVD decryptor to rip the movie to the HD, then open ripped movie on HD with DVD shrink and continue coping DVD from HD instead of from DVD.

No it happens when I open the DVD movie through DVD shrink and it will stop the uncrypting process and give me that error
