I hate to say it but I agree with Rand Paul only on the point that minors should not be able to makes those type of life altering decisions until they're at least 18 years of age or older. I have no problem with her being confirmed as assistant heath secretary.

 

Trump is a morbidly obese person that can't walk without it chafing his fat ass thighs. And his mental illnesses are even worse. And he was POTUS. Dare to dream folks.

It's something I struggle with also. I also feel uncomfortable when a preteen before they hit sexual maturity want to make life altering decisions when their brain isn't fully developed.

The argument for allowing it states that forcing a child to wait until they are fully sexually matured is often to late to make a lot of hormonal changes were they are stuck half way causing a life time of regret and depression.

 

I have no skin in this game. If this person is the choice, my opinion doesnt matter. Like I said, elections have consequences. I am sure this person has qualifications.

Trump doesn't understand the difference between life and health insurance. I'd rather have a president who stutters but has coherent thoughts than a president who can ramble without pausing but has a disjointed message that changes subject matter mid incomplete thought that makes no sense and has no basic grasp of basic policy issues.

I tend to agree that minors shouldn't be able to make that big life altering decisions especially without approval from parents or guardians. That said Paul mischaracterized this when he called it "genital mutilation". First off not all transitions result in surgery and surgery my understanding is one of the last parts of transition. Further "genital mutilation" is generally applied to things like forced female circumcision which my guess is why Paul used that term. To apply that to something that is voluntarily done then that would be like saying getting your ears pierced is "sensory organ mutilation".

 

Yes. There might be a rational concern of letting minors make these major decisions but we can all agree that Rand Paul was not coming at this from a sincere perspective and just wanted to trash transgenderism as ewuivt to genital mutilation.

For those conservatives genuinely concerned about this issue, do you think someone like Rand Paul expressing his concern in this matter helps with the conversation or does it automatically make people dismiss your point of view? Sincere conservatives to please respond.

This just confirms that someone like Paul is all about theatrics rather than actually caring about the policy he's discussing.
