So wait, since Fallon has moved onto the Tonight Show does that mean he's moving to Burbank as well? This could get interesting, none of his buddies at SNL is around and hope he has some Cali connections, this is a whole new ball park.

lol @ "does he deserve it?"

If you were Fallon and you were offered Leno's spot, you take it. Advance your career.

i dont know about deserving and all that non sense...thats neither here nor there.

someone already mentioned, conan isn't going back to NBC so it only makes sense for NBC to give the gig to fallon.

i will say this fallon has gotten incredibly better than when he first began. also as others said, he connects with younger fans. he gets great musical guests and he tends to be able to create content that is a hit online.

i think NBC knows thats where the bread and butter is, those skits/music collabs, etc all get seen the next day online.

What do you mean Fallon gets it after just a couple of months?

Then question isn't so much does Fallon deserve it, the question is what is he going to do with the audience?

The Tonight show audience skews older than Fallons and its a much larger audience. Either Fallon will have to adapt to an older audience (therefore losing the things that he really does well on his show) or keep his act and his fans will follow him, but he'll lose the massive audience that the tonight show already has.

If he stays with his current act (which is what made his show so likable) the older generation will start tuning out because they won't "get" Fallon.

If he changes his act for the older audience, they'll lose the younger generation they're trying to attract to the Tonight show.

He'll have to strive for a perfect balance between the generations and thats extremely hard to do.

I can't stand Fallon's lisp. Also, he's trained and not original. I've noticed he's got several mannerisms now to get laughs. Letterman has irony, Conan has his Harvard humor, Kimmel has his blue collar sensibility and Ferguson's a Brit. It just feels to me like Fallon's manufactured.

    Blue collar sensibility? Kimmel?
Yeah I don't know about that as the best way to describe his humor or mannerisms to get laughs.

Harvard humor? What exactly is Harvard humor if I may ask?

Sadly, it's a no. Jay is already funny just looking at him. But I'm expecting a different flavor now. And I'm intrigued to find it out.

Leno deserves the tonight show. Advertisers worry too much about the young people demographic. Older folks spend money too. Fallons ratings wont even reach conans. And honestly screw letterman, dudes unfunny and comic delivery is cringeworthy sometimes. Been running on a hyped up rep for years now. How did that cater to younger demographic workout for cbs?

It will be going from somebody who isn't funny, to someone who tries too hard to be funny.

You makeit sound like a 40 year old is going to prefer fallon or conan or headlines. Have you talked to any of us old fogies lately?
