Given up runs in every postseason game except for game 6 against the Yankees when we were already up 7-1. 8.22 ERA so far this postseason.

No. He is done. Like Brad Lidge done as a closer.

    Hinch can't keep doing this.

Maybe he's just good for 1 inning

Hinch MUST start using him differently. He's not gonna remove him as closer, but he needs to have a quick hook when he looks shaky.

Yeah he hasn't looked very good after one inning. His fastball was down from 98-99 to 96. The slider still looked great but couldn't get it done. There's just really no one else. Our SP has to continue to be other worldly

He is lights out until he gives up a hit, then he collapses.

For 15-20 pitches yes. More than that and you're playing with fire.

Giles needs to throw more sliders and Devo needs to throw more change-ups.

Throw those pitches for strikes too.

That’s what made them deadly earlier in the year.

And honestly while we’re at it, Peacock needs to throw more curveballs too. He was deadly with it earlier this year.

But then again, none of that will work if they (Giles and Devo especially) don’t have semi-decent command on their fastball.

I tried to be positive, I'm a positive guy.

No. He has wipeout stuff, but I'm a wreck every time he comes in with less than a 3-run lead.

We're in it now, so it doesn't matter. Get another guy in the offseason.

Giles was looking bad in September. He was constantly giving up hits back then. If Hinch hasn't figured out that he's an average bullpen pitcher by now he never will. This team simply doesn't have a closer, which is why we have to get creative with who to use and when. Giles should be nowhere near a close game.

I was telling coworkers before the Playoffs started that if anybody was going to let us down it would be Giles... he is just getting Lit up out there!

Need him to bounce back and God do I hope he does

    Let me say this first.

Anyone who is still wanting to claim that they aren't concerned when Hinch puts the ball in Giles hands you either haven't been paying attention or your full of s&$t!!

Somehow we're going to have to find a way to pull this off despite him.

It's a fair point. Giles is already shaky enough in a 1-inning save. Hinch asking him to get 6 outs twice now in the postseason is pushing it. I understand why he's doing that since Devo(til last night at least) has been awful in the playoffs and you don't wanna throw Gregerson out there either unless you have no other options. Maybe Harris regained Hinch's trust in Game 2 though. His performance in the 7th is being overlooked, but he battled nicely after that error allowed a runner on first.

What are legitimate bullpen options in free agency? Closer or not. A couple great arms would be amazing. Maybe Martes becomes that guy.

The crazy thing is we are still in position to win the World Series.

In retrospect, Hinch's marching the struggling Triple-A's through the pen in the second half repeatedly is making a lot more sense now.
