Do you think the Texans fans' not wanting another Carr in Houston was a huge mistake?

I wonder if fans from the other 28 teams that passed on him are constantly wringing their hands about it? Or is it just our fans looking for something else to whine about.

i still think it was b.o.b's call. no starting head coach wants a rookie to sink or swim with. Bob mcnair had nothing but love for the carrs.
Dek and wentz are not starting if injuries don't happen to two teams. I guess you can say carr could have been holding the clipboard for fitzie, but B.O.B wanted to solidify the line. And the local experts, like lance, all had filo as a 1st round talent to make an impact.

I feel sick for having to go through the hoyett era but let's see how the work in progress brock develops in his first year in the chinesebradyoffense. 4 games...geez.

seriously, what was the reason we passed on Carr? I refuse to believe the team passed because of the potential fan reaction. thats as dumb as the browns drafting johnny football because some bum said to do it. since when do they listen to fans or even better, fans reaction? did they even work him out?

only thing i could find was this

I don't have insider insight... there've always been rumblings that David didn't put in the work and that the dad was a constant presence/distraction... if that's the case, it's a knock against Derek, far or not.

Beyond that, as I've always said, you have to create the best possible environment for your QB to succeed. Literally dozens of things can trip them up, and there's no science to it - every QB and every organization is different. Derek Carr's success/failure here in Houston would have been unique and a possible obstacle and, while I wouldn't argue it was enough to not draft him, I think they would have been fools to ignore it.

Prescott's mostly been a dink and dunk kind of guy; behind a great OL and RB, he doesn't have to do a lot. Lynch; jury is out on him but he looked alright last week, he's got DT and Sanders to help him out

To be honest, Carr has yet to see any pressure as a QB. Their Oline is doing really well, their offense is kind of vanilla, and his TD/INT ratio is good. Lets see how that ratio goes when he is blitzed and hurried. We have the #29 Oline and everyone here still wants to put all the blame on Osweiler.

Through their first 12 games starting:

    Carr 13 TDs 9 INT
OS 15 TDs 12 INT and one rushing TD (16 total)

    Carr record: 1-11
Os record: 8-3 (didnt start that 8th game last year)

Osweiler also had to learn a new complex offense. You guys are ridiculous sometimes. Through 4 games with us he is 3-1, Carr is FINALLY having his first year with a positive record. All you guys look at is TD/INT ratio. And I bet if you switched the 2 teams right now, Carr would have more INT's than Brock. We need to shore up our Oline and give him some time.

Defense and ST plays into W-L records just like pitchers have to depend on their outfielders and offense for a W
