Do you think the Texans fans' not wanting another Carr in Houston was a huge mistake?

I want to like Brock. I love a tall mature quarterback with a strong arm and confidence. Let's hope he learns from mistakes and has the capability to become the QB we have always wanted. I am just so tired of being disappointed and haven't seen us with an exciting quarterback since Warren Moon and the Fab 4. It's hard to point a finger at one player or coach when nothing went right other than the fantastic job McKinney did getting 17 tackles. That was a tough game to stomach, but I can't imagine it getting any worse this year.

Fans would have blown a VY level gasket if the Texans drafted Carr 2.0.

All the MMQB's claiming they wouldn't have been upset and/or would have drafted him are lying fartknockers.

There are so many things that can derail a QB, and I admire the Texans for not blatantly ignoring that Derek's tenure here would have been uniquely awkward. Awkward enough to not draft him? I don't know. But what he would have faced here he would not have faced with the other 31 franchises.

A GM once said, "If you listen to the fans, you’ll find yourself sitting with them."

Not drafting Carr over potential fan outrage is a poor excuse. You draft based on if he's a productive player.

It's not *just* fan outrage; it's about creating an environment in which your QB can thrive. Carr's environment here would have been unique and potentially damaging. They were right to at least consider it.

    Short answer: Yes!

I think not picking a player due to his name is nothing short of embarrassing.

Anyone here answering the OP question 'yes' needs to link to one of their posts from 2 years ago to have any credibility.

Agreed. Imagine his first int here... fans would let him have it.

Man during 2014 draft, I actually wanted them to pick Mack and then Carr... oh well moving on!

This discussion has been had multiple times, and not one single time have I seen anyone dig up a post from that draft of them claiming they wanted Carr when we were on the clock.

All of these trick azz bustas are just coasting on hindsight.

Interception? Imagine him taking first *sack* as that what's his brother did more than any other human being ever.

Also, didn't his dad eventually have, like, his credentials revoked? This is pure hindsight warrior bullshit. Picking Carr would have been a bigger risk, IMO, than handing Osweiler $37MM guaranteed.

It doesn't matter what fans said two years ago, they're not the ones getting paid to evaluate talent.

This is on the Texans organization as a whole. All the way from scouting to GM and head coach.

    Also....

    Carr: 60.2 6.3 57|25 2.0 (INT%) 85.3
    Osweiler: 60.9 6.8 14|10 2.4 (INT%) 82.4

Why are we b****ing about passing on Derek Carr?

    Yeah, no joke, right?

Last night was a coaching disaster. Joe Montana couldn't have helped that sad sack of a team.

I really shouldn't even have made this post, so I apologize. I was just disappointed in Brock's performance so far, and made that post. I really want to see him do good, and shouldn't have been negative. Hindsight doesn't matter, and even though I was against Carr, I was just thinking what if we had drafted him. I am a Texans fan through and through, as hard as it is sometimes. I just hope we have seen the worst this season, and the best is yet to come.

There was certainly more of a reason to b**** before Osweiler joined the team, now it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, he looked like a very solid prospect, especially where he was drafted, but there was no way given the "fanbase" and ownership that it would've happened. Nevermind his negative feelings due to his brother, for whatever that's worth. Great for him that he went elsewhere, can you imagine the pressure/media/fan b.s. that would be on another Carr here?

So mediocre QB play is acceptable if the salary is agreeable? I mean, it's a fair point, in terms of building a franchise, etc. But if Carr played last night as poorly as Osweiler did, you're telling me the fans would have been OK, because - check their salaries? I don't buy it.
