Its not a disorder.

Quite frankly that insults people with real disorders.

This is America! We can't answer that question without a few billion dollars to fund some studies.

 

I think you are both right actually.

Yes, parents pass their racism down in many cases.

Yes, newer generations are less racist than their parents were.

It will take time.

 

I didn't agree. I think liberals want to believe there is more bigotry than there actually is.

 

I work with a "conservative" who actively complains about restaurants having too many black people and praises cities/neighborhoods that are all or mostly all white.

I think conservatives want to pretend that they believe there is less bigotry than they actually know there is.

 

Never said there were zero racists. We are much less racist than we used to be

I work with a couple 50-55 year old white guys from Texas and Louisiana. They don't even pretend to hide their racism towards blacks, Hispanics, other South American guys etc.

No reason to believe that their children don't have the same traits unless they were brought up far way from home in a more progressive system.

Not any more than the children of Northern racists do. Not sure how a more prolonged/severe Reconstruction would have helped in the enlightened environs of, say, Massachusetts.

I was born and raised south of Houston, closer to the water, and I'm white. Racism is alive and well around where I'm from and where I live.

In Europe its pretty common to have insults hurled at black players.

Does that happen here?

And Europe is mostly full of socialists.

 

It's crap. Day-to-day I, my brothers and my black immigrant parents were given the same treatment and opportunities as anyone else. Go visit any refinery or chemical processing plant on Clinton Street near the Ship Channel, at least half the techs making $35-40/hour are black or hispanic.
