[Disney Films] Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2

Look, I'm totally on board with Disney challenging gender norms and trying to empower women after years of them holding women back with these feeble and helpless characters. For me, I don't love the hat of social commentary from them. South Park, the Daily Show and to a lesser extent The Simpsons all provide great sources of social commentary. Wreck it Ralph was just a flick to me that fettered in video game references across multiple age groups and told a somewhat modern story. It had notes of the ugly duckling for sure, but in the end it was new. That's so hard to match, but maybe this movie does it? Not sure.

Saw it this weekend -
No and yes. Women asserting themselves didn't cause Ralph to have insecurities..Ralphs previous reputation as a bad guy caused him to have insecurities regarding not having/making/losing friends. It was up to Ralph to deal with the insecurities and remedy it himself.

 

Negative.

Emoji was such hot garbage that it barely (I mean barley) got a chuckle out of me. So hoping they don't make a sequel to that mess of a movie... will save me the second worst spent 1hr and 30 minutes with my boys.

Wreck-it-Ralph on the other hand was pretty clever and funny. The IMDb ratings can speak for themselves, when it comes to comparing these movies:
