I just watched it again for no reason a couple of weeks back. All the way through. Such a good movie. The only thing that gets annoying is how dumb every cop outside the building is...except for Carl Winslow. Still great and has othrwise aged well, though.

It is a shame the American action movie is dead right now.

3 was like that because it was never supposed to be a Die Hard film.

originally titled Simon Says, it was about the villain character played by Jeremy Irons. all the little riddles, terror plots and heist scenes were already in there.

some Hollywood bigwig got the movie made by putting John McLain into the scenario and by making "Simon" the cousin of Hans Gruber and by making it a revenge plot.

but the reason it is better than 2 is because McTiernan returned to directing.
that Renny Harlan botched part 2

    and it was Dulles airport

Well that explains it... I still enjoy it and it is part of the die hard family to me... I guess it depends what kind of mood I'm in/ so parts 2 and 3 are equal to me...

    Loved 3.

I like 4 a lot as well. Yes it was certainly much more over the top and borderline ridiculous, I thought it was still good fun.

I haven't seen 2 in years...worth going back and getting a fresh view
