Prove that Green should be the pick? Last night The Clippers were w/o their center and rather than decide to move Boogie to the starting lineup, Tyrone Lue decided to go SMALL! Not only did the move take Ayton out of the game but the Clippers got the win! With Wood and Olynyk, I think we could use another role playing big but Green should be the PICK.
If I was a head coach and my starting center was unavailable in a playoff elimination game and the only option was to put Cousins into the game I too would look elsewhere
It’s an interesting thought, however… the league is about matchups. It’s so important to have depth at each position to even give a coach the option to be creative and exploit something the opposing team is doing on the court. Say what you want about Ty Lue… but what he’s been able to do with Kawhi going down has been a thing of beauty. I was sure the Jazz were going to handle them once Kawhi went down. They may not win this Suns series but I’ve gotta give it to Lue. He’s done great. You can’t really base who we should pick based off a coaches in game adjustments in a series with different matchups… although I am an advocate for us to take Jalen Green.
Serious Question: you think Hakeem or Shaq gets subbed because of the small ball, or the rival team has to put big body just to slow them down? They were playing without center cause all of the avaible ones were ****. Mobley wont be this force so id pass on him but if i could pick Shaq vs Curry i take Shaq
I was leaning Green before last night but this solidifies it. I think you can win with great guards and role playing bigs; rebounders, floor spacers, etc.
Of course the Rockets would have to resign him or trade for another big but the perception was more about do you draft Mobley or Green with the way the NBA is currently.
Big small doesn't really matter imo I think ability to defend on the perimeter is the big upside. Mobley can do that. As can Wood.
Big men are transitioning to a role similar to the running back in the NFL--a good/competent one is needed but it's no longer a requirement to have an elite one to win championships.
More like he didn't have the right talent to execute it. Every starter for the Clippers was a 3 point threat and has the ability to handle the ball. The Rockets, most of the time, either had a player that couldn't handle the rock (Tucker) or couldn't shoot from 3 (Westbrook).
I don't think they will spend the money to re-sign Olynyk and I can't speculate as to which trades might be made, but the case for Mobley isn't fit, it's that he's got a much higher ceiling than Green due to his skills and size. If I believed for a second that Green had the higher ceiling, I wouldn't be talking about drafting Mobley.
