the context is a bill voted down by senate democrats yesterday. The bill said that a baby that survives an abortion will get the same treatment and care as any other baby. Basically, dont kill an already delivered baby even if you wanted it aborted. The 'born alive bill' was brought forth after the Virginia Governor's support for infanticide. If a state chose to pass legislation allowing for doctors to terminate a baby that survived an abortion, it would eventually end up in the supreme court and who knows how they would decide. The way Congress prevents this chain of events is by passing their own legislation. Of course none of your answer explains why Democrats are coming out in support of killing these infants.

You can say the same thing with Kamala Harris's Anti Lynching bill when it's already illegal to murder someone. The Anti Lynching bill was passed in the Senate unanimously. Meanwhile, the Born Alive bill was going to protect a baby who was born alive and criminalize any doctors who would've proceeded with the abortion after the baby is born. No Democrats voted for it.

The catalyst for the bill was New York's repealing of their's a month ago. Here's the law that was repealed if you don't like lifenews. Personally, don't support abortion (outside of health reasons) after 6-8 weeks. Once you got a beating heart and a nervous system, that baby is alive and can suffer.
