Did anyone notice last night that Yao was not doubling on the pick and roll every time that they ran one? A lot of the time he was just dropping back and cutting off the lane from any driving. I figured a lot of you would notice this as everyone here is always complaining about how we defend the PNR with Yao and how it affects his energy level. I can't say it was super succesful as it allowed some open shots and Troy Murphy managed to hit some 3's, but against teams with lesser centers who won't/can't jack up 3's, this ploy might be a better alternative at times.
That's exactly what I was telling my son during the game, and I think that's a good decision since he would have no chance to guard anyone 20ft away from the hoop.
