Lebron didn't get hated on for going to Miami. He got hated on for the way he went about it - making a big spectacle of the decision, not telling his former team in advance, etc.

And it messed with his mind so much that he made 4 NBA Finals and won 2 titles in 4 years.

Nonsense. There were plenty of crazy trades during Stern's era. The only reason he interfered with CP3 is because the league owned the Hornets. No other trade was ever blocked or interfered with.

He is very lucky that it happened in a restaurant in the middle of NY so that he could immediately have someone attend to him and be rushed to a hospital.
If it happened in his bed in the middle of the night..

Always thought he was a badass. Loved his reactions to the annual booing at the NBA Draft. I think just about every other commissioner in professional sports would have ridiculously acted like they didn't hear it. Not sure why that makes me like him more. I guess it just made him seem more genuine/authentic/candid than the typical calculating/fake/humorless/robotic commissioners that are the norm.

Still haven't seen any status update. Hopefully he can recover.

    From your first article...
    _______

James's 'crime' in the eyes of many American sports fans was announcing on a nationally televised show that he was leaving Cleveland, where he never won a title, to join fellow All-Stars Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in Miami.

Did the brain hemorrhage make him collapse? Or did him collapsing cause a hemorrhage?

In case anybody doesn't know, "brain hemorrhage" is a maybe less scary way to say he had a stroke.

he was commissioner for 30 years

so kids who are in their 20s shouldn't be able to criticize his entire body of work since they weren't even sperm swimming around when he started his job

Couldn't have happened to a "better" guy. The hell with him. Screw Stern. Screw Silver. Screw their corrupt NBA. Screw their corrupt refs.
    Yes, I'm a terrible person.

Dell Demps may be a lousy GM but at least he ain't on his death bed.

Yeah, I'd have to throw in, I don't wish sickness or harm on anyone....but these hagiographic comments from the NBA on Stern (not that he's gone, but he's in critical condition) won't make me forget that for all the good he did as NBA commissioner, there are other things I don't trust in his tenure. The scandal that he quickly dampened down, protecting the product: "Tim Donaghy, Rogue Ref! No other crooked refs!"

There is no truth in saying you can't have a valid opinion on something because you weren't alive when it happened.

Best wishes to the Stern family.
