Good for her! She beat 44 other cars to get the top sport. She was about a 1/2 sec faster than everyone else in the top 10 and a full sec faster than everyone outside of the top 10. Of course, staying up front for 500 miles is a another story. With restrictor plate races being a such a crap shoot, she absolutely has a chance to win if she can avoid bad pit stops and stay out of trouble of course.
everybody in the field has a chance to win a plates race. starting on pole is worth pretty much exactly the same as starting 43rd. i'm betting on her finding a wall as usual.
Not a great day for Danica at the Nationwide race 28 fans injured in race. Fan video: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LXqi0AyEfOA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
That crash was way scary. Not sure if anyone else watched the race, but the whole front end of Kyle Larson's car ended up in the grand stands. Here is what was left off it:
Why is the stands so close? And a fence?? That's not gonna hold ****!!! They need to do something about safety regulation for nascar fans.
All race tracks have stands that close. The catch fence did it's job. A couple of serious injuries but no one was killed. Also, this is not a NASCAR problem.
The only significant part of the car that went into the stands was the wheel, and it went over the fence. The rest were bits and pieces, which the fence is not designed to catch. Stock cars don't have a habit of disintegrating like this. Not much can be done to prevent bits and pieces from going into the stands.
Wait a minute... that was yesterday... the Nationwide 300 but today was the Daytona 500? Wouldn't that be too close to each other in the same track?
First one I've ever watched (some of). Watched the last 40 laps or so. Danica was in 3rd till about the last turn. Had my fill of being a redneck.
That's a decent enough recovery from the Nationwide screw up. Patronizing and heavy-handed, but I really don't see a downside to this female's success. A little too willing to market her sex appeal (insofar as it could overshadow her other positive qualities), but saw her on Bloomberg once and she seems fairly poised.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI-mDDmCBjo The whole thing is great, but you have to be a pretty big NASCAR follower to get alot of the jokes, but, the Danica cracks starting at 4:45 are fantastic. Some people just can't take a joke.
