Lillard's contract is scary. Much worse than Harden's. And he's only one year younger than Harden.

 

The Blazers have begun exploring scenarios beyond the Heat. “Portland is trying to put together a number of multi-team scenarios to see they can get the assets back in a trade for Damian Lillard,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “They have been aggressive here in the last weeks… only because the league started up again. Labor Day comes, teams are engaging again. I do think they’re engaging. The question is do they find a deal in the next couple of weeks or do they have to bring Damian Lillard back to camp?”

It appears Portland is putting out a lot of smoke attempting to drive up the market for Lilliard, but in reality, how many teams does Lilliard put over the hump that can realistically afford him? Probably none. It doesn't help that Lilliard has been very open about Miami previously and plus he is not a young guy anymore, so not many years left in his prime.

I'm sure Miami is holding their cards tight since they are in no hurry. Portland does risk Lilliard losing value over time if they don't make a deal soon. I'm sure a Miami deal will come through. I would be very surprised at whatever other mystery team may be out there that has some decent assets to offer Portland. I look through all the teams, and no contending team really makes sense.
