Fair and balanced answers by D'Antoni, despite the interviewer's best efforts to goad some controversy out of him.

This one on the other hand:

Eh, I guess he is entitled to his opinion.

Well, they gave Howard the touches in the post and so Pau became a spot up shooter instead. When Earl Clark showed his ability to crash the boards with aplomb, not Pau's forte, he was pushed to the bench not that D'Antoni did not respect Pau's post game. He played a role that did not fit him, i.e., making him a spot up shooter.

if it came from prominent post players or coaches I would respect the opinion... pringles? not so much lol...

when was the last time he coordinated an offense where the focal point is the post? lol

Pau is better on offense because of his greater skill set,Dwight is far better on defense.
Dwight can also give us 17-18 points a game, and possibly more as well this year.

Howard can help us fly possibly to the top, if he keeps on getting better.

Pau is the better post player. That's a fact. Howard is just the better 2-way player and impacts the game more than Pau. That said, I'd draft Howard first, Pau second but I'd not be sad if somehow, I've drafted Pau instead of Howard. I'd be happier though if I have Howard and Pau on the same team.

Pau is a better post-up player.

The problem is D'Antoni hates post-up basketball. He thinks post-up basketball is low efficiency ball. D'Antoni loves pick-and-roll and hates post-ups.

Go to 26:35 to hear D'Antoni say it with your own ears.

Do you want to know why pick-and-roll basketball is going to make Dwight happy here???? Because it's pick-and-roll....not pick-and-rebound. D'Antoni and the Lakers totally misused Dwight. All Dwight was was a rebounding specialist. They turned him into Reggie Evans. And instead of firing D'antoni's hiney Jim Buss stuck with him. Bye Bye Dwight.

Let Pau and Dwight guard each other in the post, and let's see who can score more.

This Q&A made me like D'Antoni more.

Prime Pau Gasol is a better scorer and passer than Dwight has ever been or likely ever will be. It won't surprise me if he reminds people of that with a vintage year.

dwight was once a top 3 player, gasol at best was top 15. and dwight was more consistent with the Magic. that's the difference

Ha, yep. Gasol is so great in the post that D'Antoni never posted him up.

Because he was forced to post up the newly acquired superstar center who was ironically inept at that facet of the game. Howard in the post means Gasol stretching the floor as a spot up shooter; that's why the Howard-Asik twin tower theory is pure BS and Asik wants out.
