If I wear a mask I will not touch my mouth and nose. I will not get a drop from someone's cough on my mouth.
    How am I overrating this?

like i said if someone literally coughs on you, a simple face mask isn't stopping that. drops will absolutely go through. the average person doesn't understand that a simple face mask doesn't seal your entire face and has tons of holes in it and nothing gets filtered. you breath all that in immediately

1 billion people are in conditions of lock down or severe restrictions and self isolation.
Most people only go out only once every few days to do one errand while keeping 2 meters distance and then go back home.
A mask is perfect for this.

Agreed. I do hope it helps drive home the severity of staying home.

Anecdotally, a very close friend had a patient of theirs showing symptoms so they got tested. They tested negative for all other flu/virus so it was presumed to be a positive. This patient ended up going into her treatment (non-life threatening) and lied to the hospital about her testing and said her cough was allergies, so no one took necessary precautions. She risked contaminating their entire facility and one other person in the office is already showing symptoms. Our friend treated this patient in a small room with the person coughing continually. This doctor is also recovering from recent cancer so she is immunocompromised. It is infuriating that someone could be so idiotic and selfish. I only hope a formal announcement can prevent someone like this happening again.

But again, you can't stop stupid unfortunately.

If someone coughs on me, then wearing a mask is better than wearing nothing. I will immediately take it off and then procceed to kick the cougher in the nuts.
A mask alone can't protect you but it can protect you if you also keep social distance of 2 meters.

Where is the judge? This person should be prosecuted.
Argentina is already prosecuting a positive who had their tests results and then proceeded to board a ship with other 400 people.
500.000 dollars and 5 years in prison

I hope for punishment somehow but I don't expect it. Just hope no one gets seriously ill from their negligence, especially our dear friend.

a friend made a video inside the most popular mall in chengdu a few days ago. place was completely empty. like almost nobody. he went to get some ice cream there and first he had to register his name and document number. then they took his temperature. only then could he sit down and eat the ice cream!

Well, I tell you what: if you want to know if your sense of smell is working properly, I can share the white bean and sausage soup recipe I made yesterday.

The giant jumps, especially in New York are the results of 10s of thousands of tests that are being cleared out of a backlog. Expect it'll level off in a couple days and then resume its upward trend.

It'll be a very interesting experiment in Texas for the following week...our temperatures are about to spike into Spring (almost Summer) levels. It'll be interesting if we see a slow down in our rates for the weeks after.

I just got back from the grocery store and found some eggs and pasta! And, there was chicken! I'M GONNA LIVE!

I was still the only one wearing a mask. And, it seemed like a normal workday...with hardly any crowd. I think people have hoarded up pretty much.

Things are getting better...getting better everyday. ;)

    Good very good.
I don't want to jinx it but our measures have begun working here in Greece.

10 March : First death . Immediate Schools, colleges closure
13 March : All cafes/restaurants/bars only delivery and takeout
15 March : About 70% of the population were exercising some self isolation and social distancing

23 March : 1st day of lockdown. At least 90% of the population are in self isolation and everyone complies.

Deaths 17, 35 in ICU. Estimated 8-10k infected in the population.

At least it doesn't seem to be an expontential growth.

So far I've seen 3 women in their early 50s with covid. They all got discharged from the hospital, except my aunt the newest addition. You really are coughing every 15 seconds and the x-ray shows the lungs to be very very cloudy.

Stay safe, mayne, and thanks for your efforts for your fellow citizens!!

Mrs. B-Bob and I are going to be taking a load of PPE from her research lab to a local hospital today, which has just started accepting donations. Trying to do a tiny something/anything.
