Gave them 6 free throws during nail biting time. Ugh. Rely on the defense boys. Terrible matchup on the final shot for us. Fade-away over a big. But I did like that they were getting pushed around all day, and still found some offense. We’ve struggled to find our way against the bully teams. Yet fought back today.
The Coogs are trailing by one and get the ball with about 25 seconds. Then they slowly walk the ball up the court. They finally get a shot up with a couple of seconds left. I was thinking why not move fast and get a shot up quickly? If they miss they can always foul the other team and still get the ball back for another shot. So, I was disappointed in the way they played the last 25 seconds.
Cougars bringing offensive rebounding into vogue. Never seen a team be so relentless. This is a show.
All's right with the world. Both Houston teams won important basketball games this weekend. Somehow it makes the world a better place when we win. We need to finish the season strong by winning the final regular season games next week on the road against UCONN and at home against MEM.
Tonight's game on the road against UCONN is not going to be easy. Noticed we are only favored by two. Jarreau, White, and Grimes need to show up and play smart; limiting turnovers, foul trouble, and in general bone headed plays. The two freshman Sassar and Mills can't beat UCONN by themselves. As usual I think we can rely on Hinton and Harris to play solid games.
If we play the rest of the game the way we closed out the first half we should have no problems in this one. I don't know what got into Grimes but he went from crappy as in missing his first 5 shots to dominant taking over the game hitting his last 4 shots including 2 three pointers. I hope his hot hand continues in the second half. We do have three of our better players with 2 fouls at halftime. Hope we can keep up the effort without getting into further foul trouble.
