everyone gets charged ATM fees...though some banks refund even others banks charging you ATM fees (Compass, for example). yes...there are minimum requirements for some accounts. so don't open those accounts! you can have a free checking account at virtually any bank in America.
In general banks 'service charge' out the wazoo, when, in fact, they should be paying me to hold my money. After all, they pool all the money they hold into investments and make money on the interest. So, after they earn interest on other people's money, they also decide they're gonna hit those people up with a bazillion different service charges. "Thank you for lettings us earn interest off your paycheck. For your generosity, we'll reward you with a ridiculous service charge for writing too many checks on your 'free checking' account. Have a nice day!" -- droxford
1. you need a new bank; 2. are you saying the bank provides you no service?? if this is how you feel, why do you bank at all??? they must be doing something for you; 3. ummmm...if you deposit your money with a bank, YOU'RE ALSO EARNING INTEREST!!! have any other risk-free places you can put your money where it earns anything at all???
I am smart enough and saved enough that does not bother me. But I have read about poor dude who pays a lot of services chargers for what ever reason.
NO SH**!!! I talked to the manager of the local Compass bank here and told her to place the check on hold and not allow it to go through. The check was for about 58K, and I ended up driving to houston to go to a WAMU instead and wire the money wrather than transfer it from WAMU to Compass via a check. Anyways, she said she would and it wouldn't go through the process till I told her to do it. Well, today I got a letter from WAMU telling me they just charged me $30.00 because they turned down a check for the 58 grand (becuase I didn't have that in my account anymore after the wire). To me, that is total BS! I am so pissed. I don't know what's up with my compass card too, I tried to use it at an ATM last night and it didn't work! I am so making a trip to the bank tomorow. Thank god I don't own a gun....or you'll see me on the news.
Banks don't bother me too much. Insurance, the cost of health care for my family, high electricty bills, high gas prices, high property taxes, the cost of a good education... those thing bother me. As far as car washes go, I get my car washed at an old car wash just west of mangun on hempstead highway. It's rarely crowded, they do a good job and I bought a months unlimited washes for 22 bucks or so. Until the end of march they are selling a year unlimited for 160 or so. I plan on buying that before the special ends. I have a black car and I like to keep it clean so even if I have to finish it at home for that price I can get it washed twice a week and my car is always cleen.
$700 for std testing. Is there anyway I can appeal these costs? There's no way in hell it should cost that much.
Prescription drug companies they shouldn't be allowed to advertise... if your drug is so great, the world will beat down your door to get it
Last time I took my car to one of those car wash places where they drive your car through the wash and do a complete wipe down of the interior...the idiots used some kind of dirty rag which left a bunch of streaks on the interior of my windows. I was pissed. Their supposed to be cleaning the windows. Some punk kid doesn't even have enough smarts to use a clean rag to wipe my windows down? WTF? Good luck to your non-bright future.
The insurance companies were supposed to benefit us, but frivolous lawsuits and the crooked medical industry has changed that image.
I found a check from an insurance company that I forgot to cash. It was for $66 dollars and was written in June 2004. The check clearly stated that it was good for one year from the date. I went thru a Chase drive thru to deposit it. The teller came on the speaker and said that "Chase MAY charge you $4" because the check was old. I told her that is says on the check that it's good for one year so what's the big deal. I was pissed, but I haven't noticed a $4 charge yet.
