What are the top 20 college football stadiums when it comes to capacity? I know Michigan is #1, Penn St. #2 and Tennesse is #3. I can't find anything past that.

Can anyone help? This is just for my own knowledge.

Rose bowl is around 100,000 and TAMU is about 83,000. Texas holds around 84,000.

This might help. I can't believe my alma mater's stadium (Bryant-Denny) nor our hated rival (Auburn and Jordan-Hare stadium) even made the list. How can you overlook Yeah Alabama and the Rammer Jammer cheer, the booming voice announcing "This is Alabama football!" that sends chills down the hair of your neck? Or the flight of the eagle (War Eagle of course) as the "Eye of the Tiger" blares at eight million decibels while the fans scream War Eagle? Neyland clocks in at second in capacity, cramming 104,079 UT a-holes into that gigantic, towering, orange vortex of sound. From covering Georgia games there, it is LOUD !!! It makes the aircraft carrier flight deck sound tranquil by comparison. Michigan has the biggest stadium with 107,501 fans packed in there, but they are no where as near as rabid as SEC or Big 12 fans. I thought there was far too many PAC-10 stadiums from a league that is not known for their insane fans like the SEC, Notre Dame, Big 12 or Big 10.

That's kind of strange...UT's web page said it held 84K when we played Nebraska back in 1999.

Average number of empty seats/game: 55,000*

*Unless they are playing Texas or A&M in which case the stadium is SOLD OUT.

Rice Stadium was the host of the only Super Bowl to ever be played in Houston (next one in 2004 at Reiant Stadium)

Don't they add some seats on the field for the "big" games? I'm pretty sure A&M does.

A&M does. UT doesn't. Kyle Field has a track surrounding the field which allows A&M to install temporary bleachers and chairs for big games. UT took out its track after the '98 season, lowered the field, and expanded the sideline lower decks.

The seating capacity for Royal Memorial is 80,082. That does not take into account people who enter without tickets such as stadium personnel, media, etc. which are factored into announced attendance.

That's right, I forgot about them lowering the seats at Memorial Stadium.

When did they add the east side upper deck? Seems like it was recently. And how many seats did that add?
