    ...just think...

...if the media hadn't gone over with a fine-tooth comb the "plausibility" of a United States Senator possibly being born on foreign soil, and with anti-American virtues and archaic religious proclivities...

(...or at the very least, a Manchurian candidate and political proxy for Islam, whose sole purpose was the destruction of American democracy as it has been known...

...and giving rabid, senseless Negroes carte blanche to rape, pillage and plunder unsuspecting white people...after draining the national treasury of its welfare and Social Security benefits...)

...how many of us would REALLY have noticed the difference from then till now?

The media should expose more right wing nuts and their sponsors. The hate toward NAZI is never toxic or enough. It is not political anymore. It is life and death after 13 bombs and 11 dead bodies.

    nixons southern strategy anyone?

people who push this are either being deliberately misleading or are ignorant of history. which one are you?

here is one of nixons strategists, kevin phillips in a 1970 interview...
"From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats."

which part of my statement is wrong or misleading? here is the voting breakout:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964#Vote_totals

Jim Crow laws were enacted by Southern Democrats and their outlawing was opposed by Southern Democrats. the KKK was absolutely the militant arm of the Southern Democrats.

I thought there was a massive party re-alignment around the LBJ era wasn’t there? If I believe correctly it was because of the civil rights act? Maybe I’m wrong ...

LBJ shifted the Democrat party to push for a welfare state. He created the 'War On Poverty' . Before him they never were much for entitlements. He is usually credited with creating the modern Democrat position. Maybe this is what you are referring to.

Yup, LBJ gave up a ton of southern votes, you have to admire his courage on that. African American votes used to be all for GOP, as they were the party of Lincoln, see how things can flip just like that.

Hey crash, I would love to agree with you on this topic but then we would both be wrong.

Are these shooters/bombers right wingers? Debatable at best. Just cuz the latest bomber had Republican stuff all over his van doesn't mean anything. The guy is a career criminal. Do those types of people have political philosophies? Not really, IMO. They're just looking for a reason -- any reason -- to go off.

Yes, most of the original people are dead, but the GOP southern base is from the same segment of population as those original southern Democrats.

Correct. The South was Democrat when it was incredibly racist and created the Jim Crow laws and KKK. The South now no longer supports the Jim Crow laws or the KKK and is Republican (not to say democrats still do)

Trump "jews ties" doesn't matter to him. His daughter married into a Jews family for BUSINESS purposes. He couldn't give 2 ***** about the Jewish religion when you cuddle up to White Nationalist/Bigots.

You seem to be an incredibly astute interpreter of current history. Now tell us about how Barry Goldwater was responsible for the Civil Right Act.
