I love when people who probably have never stepped foot on a basketball court make dumb comments like this...

Chris Paul and James Harden are two of the most notorious players in the league for shooting while jumping forward. Chris even stick his legs out. And then complain about every single calls. Referees are not going to buy into that. Defenders have the right to land somewhere too.

I keep seeing dummies say "HE'S MOVING FORWARD!"

When people say that just know they don't watch NBA ball throughout the year.

If moving forward was a disqualifier than no one would ever take layups, floaters, or dunks because apparently some people think you should be able to undercut players as long as they are moving forward in the air.

This is why I hate the nba, because it is largely wwe. They are going to turn this series into a 7 game series regardless. Although the rockets clearly played bad, refs or no refs. They had no business losing that game, except the fact that Utah's affect on James Harden's timing IS real.

If the rockets lose this series, the warriors can thank Utah for disrupting harden to the point that he is not himself.

GTFO fake fan! When GSW don't get calls their way, the taunt the refs (GSW vs MIN), especially Green, and they get away with it

The second caveat has to do with the irony of Harden saying refs should call the game how it's supposed to be called. Plenty of basketball purists would say Harden doesn't play the game how it's supposed to be played. A big chunk of his game is predicated on the referees seeing a defender make contact with Harden, whether real contact or imagined contact, and calling a foul. Harden is a genius. He has hacked the system. He finds glitches and exploits them. But much of his style of basketball depends on referees continuing to have the same interpretations of fouls that he believes they should have. And so Sunday was then a live-by-the-foul/die-by-the-foul moment for Harden. The referees missed plenty of calls: About this, there should be no dispute. But that's what happens when your game depends so much on the referees. Overall, NBA referees are excellent at what they do. But they are human. And they miss calls.

If you don't like how Harden plays basketball, I get it. He flops. A lot. So does Chris Paul. And so do plenty of NBA players. And so do plenty of professional athletes across all sports, trying their damnedest to get any possible edge. There are two ways to look at Houston's loss in Game 1: One is that the referees screwed the Rockets. And that they did, not calling a handful of calls relating to defenders encroaching in the landing areas – calls they've made all year long.

The other way is that a significant portion of Harden's greatness – a significant portion of his MVP award from last season – is based on convincing referees to see the game the way he wants them to see it. Sometimes he is, in fact, fouled when he does his arm-flailing thing. Other times he's not fouled, yet he's able to convince the referees otherwise.

Look at it that way, and James Harden on Sunday was the boy who cried wolf. Did referees miss a whole bunch of calls against Harden in Game 1, enough missed calls that they might have swayed the outcome of the game? Absolutely. A foul should be a foul, no matter if it's in the regular season or the playoffs, during the opening minutes of the first quarter or the final seconds of the game, in a play that involves the reigning MVP or a journeyman bench player.

But if you cry wolf to the referees too many times, sometimes the referees won't be there to save you when you need it most.

You know tomorrow on some podcast or show someone is going with the hot take that the reffing wasn’t that egregious and some or most of those calls were right to be no calls.

Draymond's wasn't a foul (which I agree) but one of the Klay ones were. Doesn't talk about the other Klay ones.

The gist of it is that these are difficult to call and so that's the excuse the NBA will have for missing every single one I guess.

Jimmy scored 35 points in what admittedly was a subpar game from him.CP3 was 5 of 9 shooting including 3 of 6 from 3 pt. range. EGO was 10 of 19 shooting but only 4 of 13 from 13. CP3 should shoot more 3's & EGO can dribble penetrate for points. Tuck was 0 for 4 and Capela was 1 for 2.In 27 minutes (by far the least of the starters, Capela took TWO SHOTS..scoring on an alley oop. W/o the PNR lob or a fortuitous rebound for a putback, Clint has ZERO offensive game. Most disappointing to me is Clint is passive as hell when a shot goes up...he is easily boxed out on Defense and does a ton of ball watching on offense. I don't have a good feeling with 2 of our starting 5 contributing TWO points.

My god what an absolute contradiction with the last paragraph and sentence. It’s like huh? If it’s a foul ITS A FOUL regardless. You shouldn’t have to rely on the refs to SAVE you, just call it what it is, a FOUL.

If this was the time of "Braveheart", then would James Harden be "the" William Wallace or would he just be the #1 high-ranked kills guy who maybe doesn't kill as many enemy in the bigger battles? LOL ;)

GET 'ER DONE NEXT GAME, JAMES! NO EXCUSES!
