They should have flopped against Lopez. That's how you defend a decent post game in today's NBA. If you flop every time refs will go for it at least once in 3 possessions, and sometimes offensive player will miss and there you have it.
The Rockets DID lose this game last year. They were 4-3 coming home off of a big win at the Clippers and sporting a 4-game winning streak. They led 83-79 going into the 4th quarter, played horrendously, and wound up losing by 8. This year's Rockets came into the Nets game sporting a 6-game winning streak. They led 90-85 going into the 4th quarter, played mediocre basketball, but did enough things right to come away with a 4-point win. The difference this season is that we had a reliable 3-point marksman in Gordon to tie the game up when we needed a basket and Ariza, Nene, and Bev all made huge defensive plays in the final minutes.
It feels amazing that we have won several games lately primarily by means of clutch defensive plays. IMPRESSIVE!
Gordon, Gordon!! Six more 3PT's, including the game-tying. Harden another MVP performance. Rockets gave it up inside. Lopez has a nice offensive game and Rockets' interior is soft. We held dude in-check first half, but 2nd, he got what he wanted. Was Capela mostly in foul trouble? Maybe Herrell and Dekker should've played more. Rockets made enough plays at the end though
Capela and Nene both got plenty of minutes. But neither was effective inside. D'Antoni refused to double team Lopez. I guess the team's strategery was to give up the easy 2 and deny the Nets any open 3-pointers. But that can burn you if you can never get stops inside(see the first 2 games of the Blazers series in 2014).
Lopez was running over Anderson, Capela, and Harrell. Nene wasn't perfect, but he did the best out of the bigs. This team could use a defensive specialist in the front court, its version of Chuck Hayes.
I turned this one off when we were behind 116-113 (something like this). Glad to see we pulled it out at the end. While a game like this is inevitable occasionally, I sure hope we dont start making a habit of it.
I'm sure it's been said pages and pages ago but this would have been a definite loss last year and maybe even the year before. This team got their crap together and pulled it out. The Basketball Gods are blessing us this year.
Nice to extend the winning streak, but did we really give up 75 points in the 2nd half to the Nets? THE NETS!? C'mon man
Nice array of defensive stops at the end... a charge taken by Nene, a block by Ariza, a ball poke by Beverley and a steal by Gordon, and last was an unforced loose ball retrieval by Ariza.
Eh, thank god we got the win, really poor effort defensively in the 2nd half though, it was crazy how they seemed to score every time. I mean they're the freaking Nets for god's sake. Happy we stepped up those two defensive possessions when it counted (lol at Lin's airball, we've def seen that before) and Gordon/Harden saved our asses offensively at the end of the game. Hope we come out more focused next game.
Honestly we should have just double teamed him more. Lopez is their best player. Let somebody else beat you. Lopez cooked us for a good 10 minutes of that 4th quarter.
Props to our team, they played well, but wanted to take a minute to really appreciate Brook Lopez. Had some nice scoring plays to keep the Nets in it. Not sure how he is so comically bad at rebounding, but he is a great scorer, thats for sure.
