This got a mention in the other thread but her is the story. Basically he is an AStro or he is retired. http://us.rd.yahoo.com/mymod/hdln/z...ap/20041211/ap_on_sp_ba_ne/bbn_astros_clemens[/url] Clemens Accepts Astros' Arbitration Offer 12 minutes ago Add to My Yahoo! Sports - AP By RONALD BLUM, AP Sports Writer ANAHEIM, Calif. - Roger Clemens accepted the Astros' offer of salary arbitration Saturday, meaning he will either play for Houston next season or retire. Clemens said last week that he was leaning toward retirement. His agent, Randy Hendricks, said the seven-time Cy Young Award winner probably will make his decision between Jan. 5 and 20. By accepting the arbitration offer, the 42-year-old right-hander is no longer a free agent and is considered a signed player on the Astros' roster under baseball rules. If Clemens decides to play in 2005, the pitcher and the Astros either will agree to a contract or his salary will be determined by an arbitrator.
Okay this is good news...so is this what the press conference in the other thread was about, or is this a completly seperate one? Also funny that Yahoo has it already on there yet the Astros site, ESPN or anything like that doesn't have a link on it yet.
if he went to arbitration.. he'd get what.. 14 mil after last year? Although I'm sure we'd settle it for much much less
His contract was so filled with incentive clauses that im sure his salary will still be a decent amount with a lot more of it coming in incentives this year if he wishes to stay.
Pettitte being healthy and pitching well, I think Clemens will give it another go. Especially if we could get back Beltran and......prays......Alou.
