Hartenstein dominates every G-League game he plays basically. He does not need more time down there. It's a waste of time. Find out if he can play in the NBA or send him out in a trade. We need backup centers, and they refuse to give him a chance. It's just a weird way to manage him.
If anyone gets traded I'd hate to see it be him out of all our young players, mainly because of his potential as a young back up center who can actually shoot. When Clint becomes the victim of a hack attack the last thing I want to see is small ball and no defense at the rim against the big stars come playoffs. We can't rely on strictly outshooting some of these more competitive team's in the west in a series.
He needs softer hands in the roll to the rim b/c the plan will not deviate from how Capela is used in the PnR- he loses the ball too much from the pass in the paint, and can't quite get to the same open lob. Frankly, unless he is at least the equal of Chandler in those abilities, he will not consistently receive crucial minutes. His ability to light up from beyond the 3 is of no use to this team's gameplan... maddeningly.
I wish we could see him in this role. Why not just play him as a spot up shooter? Play the same way offensively as we do with our small ball lineups (5 out), except we would actually have a rim protector on the defensive end? Their refusal to try this is, as you put it, maddening.
It used to be better with Kyle Lowry, Scola, Landry, Mobley, etc. it’s gotten worse under MDA bc he doesn’t trust young players. I agree with @DreamShook
Playing all those young players helped take Rockets closer to ring. Not. Rather have the results under MDA. Nostalgia can be like a beautiful ex, because as time goes by we forget the b****iness and heartbreaks.
Yeah we wouldn’t have gotten Harden or CP3 if we hadn’t developed young talent. Developing the talent got us better talent which is how you win a chip son. Learn some history before you spout nonsense next time.
Just a touch of realism here: He shoots 30.4% from 3 (Gleague stats!). 27% last season. Perhaps his terrible 3 point shooting is why he doesn't play as a spot up shooter in the NBA??
Had no idea he was shooting that poorly, thanks for this. I thought I had read that his 3 point shooting had improved (though I guess 27% to 30% is an improvement) but didn't know it was still this bad. I guess we have our answer.
This is an entirely different team. With entirely different goals. The goal is a ring, not developing assets. Time has passed you by pops.
I hope he gets to play at least 20 minutes. Time to start giving this young man as much NBA experience as we can between now and the playoffs.
If Hartenstein doesn't get some meaningful minutes when we play the worst team in the West Warriors Christmas day the MDA is really gonna disgust me. Development is the key to his success!!!!
Ugh. That's right, he is only 21 and over 6' 9". Trade him off for someone else to develop, then get him back as a backup center when he is 35 and can no longer play back to back games because he is too old.
