It'll take at least a few years. Then, by the time the replacement comes around (and you have to pay him), you'll have to get rid of some of the defensive pieces that got us all hype.

So I’m good with leaving him in the 2nd half because it was a great opportunity to gather data about CJ, sink or swim. Give your franchise guy a chance to recover from that first half and demonstrate that he’s capable of leading a team to victory. It didn’t work out. We saw what happened. It is what it is.

the only thing I’ll be furious about is if the Texans don’t use that data to make a decision about moving on from CJ. CJ is not the guy and it’s obvious after this season. At least you know now. Go get a qb to compete with Davis Mills and let’s salvage this great defensive window we are in.

Do you know how many members of Houston's starting offense are ranked in the top 50% at their positions according to PFF? Two. Nico Collins and Ed Ingram.

I totally agree with this. We gotta take advantage of this defense we have by giving it QB that works with them.

But if your QB is "that dude," he'll be able to overcome.

Not ideal circumstances this game, but you can't play like that and expect anybody to have confidence in you moving forward.

I believe whether it's with a hopeful average young QB or a slightly above average Stroud, we'd be a 10 or 11win team that gets exposed in the 2nd rd next year.. So why not go with the average young QB that can get better? And cost far less

Yeah there’s no one in that locker room that think CJ is the guy.

With Nico Collins out of the game the Texans only had ONE starter that ranks in the top-50% at his position in the NFL.

You misunderstood or I didn't make it clear... I'd go with an incoming rookie than Stroud..

I disagree. It doesn’t take a few years for a replacement. We probably have a new OC next year anyway.

Hate to say it but he had easily twice that many which could have been intercepted. Not that it would have mattered. We still lost.

And it sucks, but I don't want us to use that as an excuse for #7's bad performance.

Also (side note), I don't think Hutchinson will be on the team next year. Some of those balls should've been caught

OK. So, how much of a leash would you give the replacement if we replace Stroud next year then?

Well, obviously that all depends but don’t try to insinuate that a qb has never been effective his first year with the team. You can even look at Stroud for an example. He just weirdly isn’t the same player anymore.

I'm not saying a new QB can't be "effective" in his first year. What would you define as "effective"? I mean, this franchise has struck out on QB after QB and there's a clear Divisional Round ceiling.

I just don't see a clear way to replace Stroud right now without some suffering. Like, I'm tired of having to start over at QB every 3-5 years.

No excuse. I'm only suggesting that we need more talent on offense.

For sure. As bad as some of those throws were, I felt like Hutch should've come down with a few of them.
