I totally agree with Feigen on this one. Chuck is a master defender and he put many of the elite offensive PF/Cs of the league to shame. Sammy is great but he ain't no chuck for power players.

I knew losing Chuck would hurt.

Hopefully PatPat can start playing more minutes and provide some much needed D.

I love Shane but the ones killing us were Gasol/Zbo. Chuck used to put a hurt on them. Rudy didn't do so hot last night even without Shane.

People underestimate what Cbud is capable of. Now, if only he would get a little more aggressive attacking the basket...

Kind of needs to be on the court to do that....53 minutes in 3 games is not even 17mpg.

To clarify about the OP's misleading title

That is NOT what Feigen says in the article

Feigen mentioned NOTHING about winning and losing.

He say the defense MISSES Yao and Hayes in the frontcourt, and it SHOWS. Which means the Rockets would have a BETTER defense with them than the guys they have.

    Thats all.

It is correct to mention Battier as well. Cuz of the fact its APPARENT that Hayes and Battier's defensive influence isnt there on the court anymore.

Its just a simple case of don't know what you got til its gone.

That doesn't mean it can't get gained back, it can. But now we NOTICE the lack of cohesion with no Hayes, Battier and Rick Adelman.

If Bud would stop bricking wide open shots, he would get more pt. When he gets traded to Minny, I hope they tag along his 'zona teammate.

Chucks defensive presence is definitely missed ... But shame on Feigan for bringing up the fact that Chuck isn't there when the Rockets obviously wanted him back ... Its time to move past what the league vetoed and what could have been ... Let's be more creative Feigan ... There were some concerns much bigger than Chuck not being here. Rockets still could have won that game without Chuck ... The problems are with the players who are on the team, not free agents who decided to move on.

We might as well sticky this thread when we play guys like Griffen, KG, Amare, etc.

One major concern is that I'm starting to question whether Jordan Hill improved or not.

Here's to hoping Thabeet isn't the one inactive tonight ... Atlanta is very athletic and Rockets need SOMEBODY that's going to step up on defense ... Dalembert can't do it alone.

True, but Chuck made him work for it. He was getting wide open shots. He used little effort. There were only a couple of plays that Dali made him work and he made a tough shot.<p>ZBo is going to get his points. Just like when Maxwell would play against Jordan. MJ would still get his points, but Mad Max got under his skin and made him work.

He has only taken 17 shots in 3 games......less than 6 shots a game....while he has not been great, it is too small a sample size to say he has been bad.....

He shot 9 times last night and made 4 of them...not great, not bad...pretty decent...meanwhile folks are raving over Parsons who took 9 shots and hit 5...one more...against scrubs.

LOL - Clutchfans is one funny community.

The key to missing Chuck less is Patterson. He can offer some of what Chuck does on D and, of course, better shooting range.

I agree... Ppat looked really rusty last night, but when he get's his legs under him he has the game and the maturity to be a potential leader on the defensive end.
