Christian Wood is a Rocket (UPDATE : Yes -- it's true)

Are you asking how competent I think the NBA is.... or how competent I think the Houston Rockets currently are?

Ok so the Rockets were the only team who were willing to bank on him being a diamond in the rough, got it. Thanks, that's all I was wanting to know.

 

People always get fooled by leapers. Lots of people thought Marquese Chriss would feast on alley oops from Harden too. Turns out you need a brain and some coordination to play at a high level, not just pogo sticks for legs. Thankfully, Wood appears to have coordination in spades. Hope he does well here.

 

You remember Thomas Robinson?

 

He's had a history of not working hard, showing up late to practices, and not playing defense. He was even cut by a Chinese team, which really shows how bad his dedication was. Even last year Dwayne Casey was benching him for poor defense early on. There is only a half season sample of great play, so there's a good chance he can revert to being unprofessional again after getting a big contract.

If he had a longer history of good play or never had character issues he would be out of our price range. He is far from a guaranteed product. We're kind of taking a chance here. We could be getting a bargain or a dud.

 

I didn't consider Robinson an elite athlete. He was B level in terms of quickness and speed.

Another hyped somewhat high draft pick that was supposed to flourish playing off Harden.

 

I really believe him seeing how he was on draft night up until now has shown him what it takes to be a star in the NBA. I dont doubt he can be what he was like last season in Detroit. Personally I think if he continues this current pattern of improvement, he can be better. He was only scratching the surface of his talent last season.

 

THIS is exciting.

Christian Wood will be All Star caliber if he can become efficient and consistent passer.

Especially as the short roller.

Our 5 out system would be unlocked.

It's good to be excited about the Rockets again. I've stayed optimistic that things would turn alright. Hoping that these players perform and we are looking good in a few months.

 

crazy thing is i think he could add elements of both harden AND westbrooks game to his own.

Yeah, he does get tunnel vision and isn’t a very good passer.

If you haven’t seen him play a lot... you can just look at his turnover to assist numbers... for every two assists he gets, he turns it over three times.

 

In about 1830 total career minutes covering 113 games he has about 68 assists.
