    Totally agree

They are different since they haven't killed hundred thousands of people. Look I really dislike religious fanatics, I think they are a big problem everywhere. But saying these idiotic groups are the same as ISIS minimalizes the horrors ISIS is responsible for. On top of that you give the people who do not see the problems with Christian zealots an easy way out of the discussion about Christian zealots by claiming ISIS is much worse.

So while I agree with you that these people are idiots and dangerous you are not helping the argument with these type of threads.

It is a good thing these zealots are not in charge in the west, if zealot Christian Theocrats are in charge, many atrocities would be committed in the name of god.

Pardon my Irish but ... It is just the Christians who are OK with starting a Civil fookin' War.

Níl sé ach na Críostaithe atá ceart le Cogadh Sibhialta Sibhialta a thosú.

The only people who are going to care if Trump gets impeached is the hard/alt right.

Pence is firmly against LGBT, abortion, ect ... so why would extreme Christians and Muslims be against impeaching Trump in favor of Pence?

Because the leaders of the evangelical movement are in bed with Trump. James Dobson, Pat Robertson, etc. have never been able to get this close to the White House even with Republican Presidents in the past and they are intoxicated with the sway they have at the time to get their agenda pushed through. Most of this is because Trump's base now is only made up of White Supremacists and Evangelicals. That's about it even though when they vote the suburban whites who just vote Republican because they have historically would probably still vote for Trump again. That base is all Trump has as political leverage with the GOP so he needs them as much as anyone to stay in office.

It truly is a deal with the devil.

    .............

But morally how do they justify it when you talk to them? James Dobson and others refer to Trump as a "Baby Christian". That is an excuse they give that he still has moments where he's learning what it means to be a Christian. They laid hands on him around Summer of last year when he won the nomination over Cruz and the deal was struck then to throw their support behind Trump if he allowed them to get a photo shoot or two so they can tell their followers "look... he just now GOT SAVED... give him some time".

I know this because I have zealots in my family that traffic in this nonsense and think they should include me on everything because I'm a liberal and apparently if you are in my family and you vote Democrat you are going to hell. Yes... they LITERALLY believe that.

It's different because it's just one lunatic dude saying things. If Christians actually were to start a civil war, that would be one thing. But a fringe ex-pastor who's no longer relevant is no different than some random Islamic extremist on twitter doing a rant.

The easiest con in the world is to convince people that what they secretly desire is morally justified.

The only thing more annoying than "doing the right thing" is the cognitive dissonance from knowing that you are doing the wrong thing. if you can move the goalposts on what is right, that is a win/win - you do what you want without the discomfort of knowing it is wrong while simultaneously avoiding the annoyance that doing the legit right thing presents.

That is why it is so easy to sell people that all this stuff is the Christian way. You're leading them where they already want to go. They just need someone to tell them it is OK.

Not saying trump will get impeached, but what makes you think pence will be any more effective as president as Gerald Ford was after nixon was impeached? And Ford was liked and respected...

If they ever did then they would experience the same result as the last group that tried.

Im speaking ideologically. Just like there are those who want free healthcare and free schooling, as there are those who think we could overturn Roe vs Wade and gay marriage.

Sometimes its best to put some of this hopeless ideologue behind us and concentrate on more important matters.

First... what makes you think trump is any less interested in taking away gay marriage or abortion rights as pence would be? Sure, pence is an ideologue... trump, is not an ideologue, but he would do it anyway.

But a congress that goes through the impeachment process to remove trump would most likely reassert itself and severely limit whatever a president pence might try to do. Just like Ford, pence would be able to do very little.
