Vastly inferior? I am not so sure about that.

THe Last Samurai was pretty damn solid, and I will take Hero over Crouching Dragon, Hidden Penis every single time.

4 Oscars to 0 for Tom "I'll do the movie if I am saving the world" Cruise

    93 to 55 Metacritic

It's cool if you liked it better. Everyone has different tastes.

    Hero sucks.

It's beautiful to LOOK at, but the story is flat out stupid. Crouching Tiger is about 100 times better than Hero.

I think there is one scene with Donnie Yen fighting inside his head while playing GO or chess.

    That was pretty nice.

I remember Hero, but barely remember anything about Crouching Tiger. So I'd hve to give nod to Hero.

I could never get into that crouching tiger, hidden dragon stuff. That was really bad to me. The new one on Netflix was garbage too.

The Last Samurai was great. One of my favorite Hans Zimmer scores as well. I don't get the Tom Cruise hate. Dude always makes entertaining films. He would have been much better for this movie than Matt Damon.

Damon is boring IMO. There is nothing about him that stands out to me. He's just a regular guy you could run into anywhere in an American city. Winning Oscars doesn't really mean much to me. Damon takes Oscar bait roles. Cruise takes blockbuster roles. What has Damon done performance wise that Cruise can't act out himself? Yes, Matt Damon has a ton of great movies, but they'd be great without him still.

I think his biggest advantage is that Damon lives an ordinary life and is an ordinary guy.

There are plenty of ordinary characters and his standout character Jason Bourne (aside from his Oscar winning or nominated pieces) is one regular guy with special abilities and difficult past.

Cruise is something else, he is a Hollywood star incarnate, weird Scientology life.....
He is a hero type, recently done villain roles, he is mostly taking blockbuster film roles.

I liked Last Samurai, I thought Cruise and Watanabe did great jobs.

A white actor star in the last samurai was justified as the main plot revolved around a western american soldier finding redemption as a samurai... This is jist hollywood catering to white washed agenda... Nevertheless, I like Matt Damon so ill still watch.

Busting out the reviews old man?

Go watch some The English Patient and pipe down... ;)

    Hero > CTHP

Last Samurai is not "vastly worse"... All good films.

I don't see the problem. Was it the title?

I LOVE Dances With Wolves, and it is much the same thing Kevin Costner's "The Last Indian".

agreed.. also the 2nd in command who is actually a famous japanese actor was pretty good too. That guy was also in Lost..

And yes, Last Samurai gets unfairly bashed. Yes, it's cliche that it has the lone hero white guy save the day... although he doesn't really save the world.. In fact they all get killed.

well the Budget for Crouching Tiger was only 15 million compared to 140 million for last Samurai. In any case both were financial successes for the studios and i found both films to be entertaining.

that's just it.. you only need to watch the action scenes from Hero.. the dialogue, story, acting, plot, all fell really flat.

"well the Budget for Crouching Tiger was only 15 million compared to 140 million for last Samurai."

Why do you say this like it's a great thing?

Why do Asian people LOVE stupid Tom Cruise action movies?

I don't think you understood my point. But please discuss and explain.
