I feel a new word coming: a comment of Rumsfeldian proportion.

I thought that the nature of the beast meant that the resolution could not pass, if a country with a veto exercised that right?

    Bailey,

It first passes, THEN it is vetoed, at least that is how I understand it.

    Ahhhh...

If that is the case, then the French (and others) will lose a lot of credibility in this country.

actually, i thought the whole thing was, you have to have 9 votes for something to pass, but any one of the 5 permanent member (us, uk, france, china, russia) can veto a measure and it doesn't pass. so maybe they mean the public will back it if we get the 9 votes but one of the permanent members vetoes it anyway. a moral victory of sorts if we get the 9 votes but someone vetoes it.

Why is anyone surprised that France and Germany aren't taking a stand against Saddam? These are the descendants of the people that allowed Hitler to take over their countries.

I didn't realize they were moving towards an elected parliament...that is even better than I thought.

Who cares. We can't even run an election fairly in Florida. Maybe we should let the French monitor our elections.

    :(

It pains me that there are still people who make comments like this...

Could you be any more racist?

Jingoistic, xenophobic, downright idiotic - yes. Not racist, though.

More than 25% of U.S. Americans are either completely or partly of German descent.

Actually I'm German myself. History repeats itself if it's not learned from and guess what...it's happening again. My comment was not intended to be racist and if it offended you I apologize.

But he doesn't, and I don't think he doesn't just because we're about to take him out.

There are 70,000 Americans buried in France. They are forever entombed in Frog dirt.
