Pull the battery and get the battery tested at autozone. if its not that, probably the starter, try the hammer trick. Alternator can also be tested at autozone if you feel like pulling it.

To get it in neutral, maybe the steering wheel is locked, try turning it with the key in and your foot on the braker.

Harrissment, I still think you can move it out of the garage to get it started with someone's good car's help.

I know...I used to have to do that to get my window to roll up.

For starter problems, I would just pop the clutch, but iof course, my Stangs have always been stick.

You could always unbolt the driveshaft from the rear U joint. Make sure that you don't drop the shaft or you'll have to get to work on refilling the tranny oil.

First off, if your car is an automatic, which obviously it is, putting it in neutral will do nothing. You can only jump start a car with a stick.

If it is an auto, your best case is above. Take the battery to autozone. They'll find out if the battery is the problem, or not.

    The choices are:

    Dead battery
    Bad starter motor
    Bad spark plugs

And I've had to replace all three before. At least you're not driving an expensive POS. My sitch cost me $600.

    HUH??!
You can only pop the clutch on stick.

Autos and Stick can both be jump started with jumper cables.

Bad spark plugs??? Sorry. They saw you coming.

If the battery is completely dead, it may still not start. What exactly happened with the jump? Did you hear a clicking sound?

When you jumped it did you put the jumper on the dead car's battery? You should have had positive to positive, and then connect the negative to the good car battery but ground the negative for the bad car on some other metal in the engine.

I was trying to jump a dead one time and was unable to. As soon as I grounded the negative cable going to the dead car it fired right up.

That's easy. Measuring and laying the centerline masking tape. The stripes go on pretty easy. Kind of like carpentry. Measure twice, tape once.

Sounds like your high speed muffler bearings have gone out ~ very dangerous situation. You need to have a pro check that out ASAP.

Man, you do not want bad muffler bearings, those things can ruin your checking account.

It helps you determine if the terminals may have a short. Most of my friends on whose cars I've done that are all  "What are you doing, man???!?!?!?!" SHUT UP, I say. :p

I tried for 15 minutes one time to jump a car with all 4 clamps connected to the batteries with no success. As soon as we took the negative clamp off the dead battery and grounded it the car fired up.
