He's going to be UFA next year. Jazz probably dont want to keep him now that Hayward is gone. They need more shooting and spacing next to Gobert. His salaey next year is about 12 mil. Can we get him with the NG contracts with our cap issues? Can be a great addition to our bigs rotation.
What kind of favors are you suggesting? I am sure @Pen15clubber would be down to make something happen for the NG guys as long as it benefits Rockets
Unfortunately, not a chance. It's a shame b/c I think he would complement Anderson's deficiencies quite well if/when healthy. The issue is this. You're Utah. You couldn't keep D-Will, Boozer, George freaking Hill, Heyward, etc. Why would you give up Favors for optionality? That optionality isn't worth anything to you if you can't keep your own much less entice others to come. I think the only deals the Jazz make before next offseason will be talent for talent.
y'all love coming up with stuff that is completely unrealistic the Jazz will want actual assets for Favors, not a bunch of random non-guarantees that Morey managed to round up, stop it...
Utah will never want to see Houston in a strong position. The rivalry is still bitter. Hakeem and Clyde humiliated them on our way to back to back championships, and Houston hasn't forgotten the Karl Malone bear hug on Clyde, leading to the Stockton shot.
I see many reasons for the Jazz to pull a trade if they can free up some cash. Favors is a great player but he does not fit next to Gobert. They have their main guy in Gobert now and dont want to waste his contract. with the nice core they have with Rubio, Hood, Lyles and Gobert they can add a good player to their core who can add shooting (I think a good offer to Jamycal Green would put them in good position to succeed but they need to free up cash). Boston will be happy to do a sign and trade with Crowder to add some toughness to their 3 position. As for us, we can get (if it works with cash) a great addition to the 4/5 position without needing to give up Anderson which I love (and hard to move anyway). A much better deal than Carmelo in my opinion
If you are Utah, and you're going to do a salary dump on a quality player that is going to piss off your fan base to no end, the last place you dump that salary is within the division where your fans are going hit in the face by it 4 times every year, and gently reminded of it every time they look at the standings. That is a formula for building resentment among the fan base. If you're just going to dump him to free up space, you send him to the East. If you are going to literally give him away for cap space, someone like Atlanta would have to be interested. A Utah GM that sent Favors to Houston for cap space would deserved to be fired the next day.
ok thanks. Makes sense. The First real answer I got. a lot of A wholes around here. Now for salary dump they dont need to take back NG contracts? So why are we holding all those contracts if not for a situation like that?
I never said the Jazz won't make a deal. I never said the Jazz don't need to make a deal. I, too, see many reasons for the "Jazz to pull a trade." What I said to you was simply that the Jazz will only make a talent for talent swap. You want to offer them NG's as temporary and flexible roster filler. That's the deal that I said has 0% chance. The Jazz can't even spend the cash they currently have. Hence, "free up some cash" has 0 value to them. They couldn't get 2 of their top 4 players from their first playoff squad in years resigned despite offering them market or better contracts. Your proposed deal is effectively Ice to an Eskimo. I tried to be nice about it.
