Other than Harden and Capela, this team has severe talent and height issues. Morey has assembled the worst supporting cast in years. Schumpert is awful and no one else on the bench stands out except Faried who never plays. On a positive note, Harden definitely won the MVP tonight as the rest of the nation got to see the wonderful supporting cast (burden) that he has had to carry on his back for the past several months.
Depth....who??? Gary Clark, Danuel House, Austin Rivers, Iman Shumpart, Ancient Nene.....don’t confuse that for depth, that is a list of NBA scrubs. Only two good bench players we have is Gordon and Faried...one starts and the other inexplicably doesn’t play over the previously listed scrubs (and due to MDA’s love affair with Shump).
We have more depth than we've had in a long time. Another thing that's seems to be quickly forgotten is we always keep either Harden or CP3 on the floor to maximize the talents for each unit. It's hard to know exactly what our bench will look like considering our starting five may change from round to round based on matchups. We have quality players. Harden/CP3/Clint/Gordon/House/Faried/Rivers/Green and still hopeful that Shump turns it around. That's 8 - 9 quality players with a very top heavy 3. It's almost inevitable that you will squeeze your playoff roster on any given night to a main 7 with the 8th playing spot minutes (Green, Rivers, Shump).
Fearing that Pringles is going to sit Rivers and Faried and go heavy minutes with Green, Nene, and his favorite player Shump. That is a quick exit in the playoffs. Rockets were built horribly this year by Morey. Look at Portland, they lose Nurcic and still have Kanter and the underated Miles Leonard. We lose Capela (or he plays a stronger center) and we have absolutely nothing. I expect more out of the Rockets braintrust. Last night’s embarrassment was the result of this team’s lack of aggression to make improvements at the trade deadline. Without Harden, this is truly the worst team in the league. Refs will call the playoffs just like last game and that will be that.
Main concern in playoffs is health. We have enough players if James performs 27 PER. Hopefully we're rested enough.
watched game 5 against GS again recently...I still get chills, what a game that contested 3 that CP3 hit over Curry as the shot clock went off was insane, then he shimmied on his b*tchass Rockets should’ve won the title last year and Harden, Morey, CP3, and D’antoni’s legacies would’ve been secure...it kills me
Ideal playoff seeding for me: 1 Golden State 2 Denver 3 Houston 4 Portland 5 San Antonio 6 Utah 7 LA Clippers 8 OKC Doubt it’ll end up like that but I’d be happy to see it
