OK, good. So it's not just me then.

I went in there on my lunch break one day to buy Naked Baby Photos by Ben Folds Five. By buddy had played it for me the night before, so I HAD to get it the next day.

Well, I guess I just didn't look the part of the musically savvy hipster that day because when I went to buy it, the guy at the counter rolled his eyes and said "are you looking for the album with Brick on it?"

I played a CD release show there in 2001. It was a miserable experience. Of course, I hated the band I was in at the time...

Don't worry, Waterloo Records is still open in Austin, only 120 miles away.

First Western Union stops sending telegrams... now this.

Didn't we all count on these two things to get through life?

My favorite record/cd stores while in college (didn't go to them before that) were Record Rack on Shepherd and SoundWaves around the corner on Westheimer. Are they still around?

So sorry to hear Cactus is closing, I was there just last week to pick up the new Gourds CD. I'm not sure where I'll go now for music. I was in Warehouse Music on the Gulf Frwy a couple months ago, and it seemed pretty good, but I will miss Cactus.

Soundwaves is now on Montrose right next door to the Chinese Consulate (used to be a Walgreens) and Record Rack has been closed for a few years now.

The only independant music store that matters now is, Sound Exchange on Richmond.

i'm no music expert but that soundwaves on westheimer was great when I was in high school. used to always buy used cds there. I know each soundwaves is supposed to be different in the genre they specialize in but I used to buy all my hip-hop and r&b from that one. I've seen that new one down montrose but never stopped to go in.

is there a tower music in houston now?

On a side note...did anyone catch Fox News' (KRIV-Channel 26) story on Cactus closing? It ran on Friday night and last night, apparently.
