If this belongs in the random trade thread or this has been discussed already this season, I apologize. Did a quick search and didn't see anything recent that this would overlap. But again, apologies if this is not in the right spot.

Anyway... we're playing so well this season with such an interesting roster that we'd be a really attractive destination for a veteran that was bought out. I will have to call on our experts here as my focus on the NBA is aimed almost solely at the Rockets, but who are the current candidates around the league that could possibly get bought out by their current teams? Who would put on a buyout wishlist for the Rockets?

I think we could use another combo/point guard for injury and rest purposes (a Bobby Brown replacement, basically) and we could always use another "switchy" wing defender or an accurate 3 point shooter (at any position). The problem is that I have no idea who is out there that fit those descriptions and if they're in a situation that would necessitate a buyout. Does anyone even think a rotation level player is in line for a buyout? There are no obvious candidates like when we picked up JSmoove... at least not that I know of.

Would love to hear Clutchfans' take(s)...?

Dream Buyout candidate for me is Dirk Nowitzki. I know he wouldn't fit a need, BUT I have always wanted to see him with a great guard(s), even at this stage in his career.

Realistically, I wouldn't mind a pickup like Wesley Matthews. I think Dallas will push a youth movement very soon.

A player like Iman Shumpart also comes to mind.

Joe Johnson... I like the idea of that... a lot. He was awesome in the playoffs last year for Utah. Wouldn't hate Wes Matthews. He's at 41% from 3 this season.

I would like Belinelli a lot as 4th guard. He can also hit when it matters and when he takes fire...

Deng has been mentioned. Would give us another guy who can switch on D and he's not horrible offensively, or at least he wasn't.

I have mentioned this before in the trade idea thread, but it's more appropriate to add a wild card buyout candidate (Zach Randolph).
The Rockets would give him a very good chance in getting a Championship ring. His addition could take off pressure from Clint when the going gets tough in the paint.

Wes Matthews would make this team a serious threat to the Warriors this year

Doubt that would ever happen. I don't see him being a MDA type of player.

Our defense would improve even further, but where would he fit in our rotation?

Have there been legit talks of a Wes Matthews buyout though??????
I put it on my twitter once during the 2015 free agency I would much rather we sign Wes Matthews than trade for ty Lawson.

unless you waive Bobby Buckets he would get his minutes, which is none.

Taking a gamble on Zach won't hurt. MDA should think outside his comfort zone.

I think we could easily find minutes for by reducing Harden, Ariza, Tuckers' minutes. We can probably find 15-20 minutes. It also helps not worrying about our defense if Ariza, Tucker, Luc gets in foul trouble.

Is this a realistic buyout candidates thread? Or a whatever we can make up thread? Because Dirk Nowitzki isn't going get bought out by the Mavericks. His contract is up after this season and the Mavericks have absolutely no reason to try and shed cap space, and they have even less reasons to go about shedding cap by releasing the face of the Dallas Mavericks franchise for its entire existence. Dirk Nowitzki IS the Mavericks.

Also, Randolph signed a deal worth $24 million over 2 years, he was just signed and hes definitely not getting bought out.

when people bring up stuff like we can easily find 15-20 mins etc for end of bench guys. i really dont think people realize how much time that really is in an actual nba game on a nightly basis. its really not that easy and does have an effect on the team itself

Belly is playing well and will be a trade piece. He’s worth a 2nd at least for a rebuilding hawks.

Monroe is in the same boat for Phoenix.

Joejo and thabo I just don’t know if that’s actual.

Dirk is a lifer and I don’t see it at an impossibility imo.

The rest are possible with the most likely bein chandler imo. And likely the likeliest signing as cod has hinted we are on his list of preferred teams.
