Ray Farmer is definitely doing work for Manziel out in the media with all these interviews. The Browns are certainly one of the most talked-about teams now nationally, but at the end of the day, it's all hype. Once the games start, we'll see what Farmer has really done for that franchise.

If he succeeds, with all this hype, and on that team/franchise... it will be unprecedented.

Something tells me the odds are totally against that happening.

For a team that's trying to downplay Manziel, and give him time to learn the NFL life, Farmer sure is doing a piss-poor job of letting it all play out. Brian Hoyer must feel like he's on an island.

I hate Johnny Football but you can't really argue the fact that up to this point he has been the stuff of legend... from destroying teams so bad in HS that he had to be taken out at halftime to slipping thru the entire alabam d line.

sure he hasn't proven anything in the NFL yet but he was an all-time great college player.

But that's not really at the crux of this thread. The point I'm making is that Farmer has been on a nationwide tour trying to garner interest in the Browns by touting Johnny Manziel as the Next Coming all while maintaining that he's a third-string quarterback who shouldn't be expected to come in and set the league on fire. It's a conflicting message that will do nothing but cause angst and unease in Cleveland if they get out to a poor start, and Manziel isn't ready to take over. It's simply a PR gimmick on the part of Ray Farmer....nothing more, nothing less.

He was taken out in the third quarter of several of his college games also. By mid way through the third quarter, it was mop up time.

Ty Cobb was one of the worst humans to ever live, he was a self centered, megalomaniacal, racist, sexist murderer and Ruth was an overweight, womanizing alcoholic. I'm no Manziel fan, but that's harsh.

...while as much I think Manziel may be a decent NFL QB and cavalier-type person, he's not quite a Ruthian or Cobb-legend.

Ty Cobb?? Terrible comparison. A drunk bigot does not sound like Johnny to me.
