His World Series heroics. His good play this year when most every other hitter has faltered. His brash (in a good way) personality. All star game performance.
I think it is mostly his personality. Springer, for example, had better world series and all star game performances. But he just doesn't have the personality (and social media presence) that Bregman has.
It's not that surprising to see Bregman as the favorite among younger fans. Bregman is way more active on social media than any other Astro. And he's genuinely a funny guy, too. That said, I'd love to see a breakdown of our fanbases' favorite player. If I had to guess, I think the breakdown would be something like: Altuve 30% Bregman 25% Springer 20% Correa 15% Verlander 10%
Maybe it's just me, but I find Correa kind of lame. Great ball player with a bright future but he just seems a bit manufactured/trying too hard. I don't see his passion and pure enjoyment for the game come through on a day to day basis like the rest of those guys.
Wow! Mike Fiers at 44 ahead of Kershaw. Fiers is often the forgotten piece of the Gomez trade. Needed him last year to eat up innings for sure
True, but we destroyed him during the playoffs last season, and we got Verlander and Cole and got to keep Bregman and 500K salary.
This, and also the prospects we'd have sent for Sale would have gone to our old tormentors from 13 years ago. White Sox are not a team I want to help. I root for all former Astros prospects, unless they're with the Rangers, Yankees, or White Sox, my three least favorite teams. Bregman seems very happy that he's playing for Houston, and we are extremely lucky to have him here. We deserve him more than the South Side. There's a reason they call that place Chiraq. And seriously, trading Houston for Chiraq is like trading a brand new Rolls Royce for an old AMC Pacer.
