boy oh boy...those biased whistles in the final of IST just makes me sick! year by year NBA has fallen to a JOKE in sports world. literally, the league was escorting LAL from get-go to last minute and stole away the cup from young Pacers, below are my findings of the this game: - 1min 30sec into the first Qrt, refs gave Bruce Brown two quick fouls (for guarding Russell), THIS set a tone for this game; - in first half, whenever Pacers deficit drew deficit within 2, refs called a foul to secure LAL in a comfort zone lol; - in the paint (on both ends of the floor), LAL simply played as physical as they planned, refs kept an blind eye on quietly, however that ain't the real sh*t, the real sh*t was treatment to Pacers players were 100% opposite to! which means both 'Kareem Abdul-Jabbar' Davis and 'Jerry West' Reeves were unbelievable well protected by refs THROUGHOUT the game while Myles Turner kept in doghouse all game long smh; - into the third, for 8 minutes or longer, those refs looked like they felt a sharp sting of conscience and suddenly whistled in a fairly manner which couldn't last longer until LAL's 7pt - 9pt lead being cut to 3pt; - into the fourth, the witty gritty Pacers cut it to 3 as mentioned above, when we believed a miracle was about to be witnessed...hold on hold on it's time for Bron to start his sh*tty show as it used to be i.e. grimacing, whining and rolling about, yup you could hardly make it wrong...we saw Turner being fouled out on the heels of Bron's showtime, lmao ain't any playbook could be as pathetic as this one?!!!!! well, somebody could say: 'look at stat, pacers shoot poorly'. man no young team could win this sh*t when refs whistled as biased as this IST game, no doubt, Pacers confidence was not destroyed by their turnover proned opponent (18 turnovers!), it's destroyed by the league.
A word to all the goofballs (@J.R. @solid ) whinging and whining about "participation trophies ' First, off, the trophy for the IST - the NBA Cup and the prize money - went to the winning team and not all participants so the definition obviously fails. Second, I understand the sense in which you are actually using it - an all purpose reactionary dungball dredged up from the AM radios to denigrate things today as " soft " rather than" hard" the way they used to be when they were perceived as better. Obviously too long to get into here, but this type of old fart rantings has some flaws, though it's worth noting that discouragement of participation at all by certain groups is very much a feature of this strain. Third, and most importantly they don't really give out participation trophies in real life and who GAF if they did? I've had kids for a decade now involved in youth sports and music and all other types of competitions etc and never once has a participation trophy been awarded, in any event, in my recollection. No trophy, no medals, no ribbons. Maybe a certificate or T-shirt at most, but tshirts, I mean adults get t shirts for doing things. Nothing wrong with that at all unless you're a psychopath. Finally - who cares if they did? Kids place an inordinate amount of value on metal and plastic baubles that adults have moved past. I treasured my spelling bee trophy back in the day . My kids are obsessed with cheap medals for soccer. Whatever, but great! Let's say, in theory, some kid has their self esteem boosted by getting a trophy recognizing their courage in participating in life, which is not always easy - good for them! Who cares? I know those of you with Great Santini parenting styles may find this a blood insult, but lol, get a life man. As far as it encumbering development by inflation of expectations - show some evidence? You don't have to portray life as Squid Game for every moment of your children's existence - it doesn't make you a better parent or person, even if it's true. TL;DR - in most cases, grown ups ranting about nonexistent participation trophies tell you more about themselves than the objects of their ire. Grow up, you're losing at the game of LIFE brother.
I still think the "in season tournament" or whatever it was called is a meaningless PR stunt. Feels like it was to highlight the Lakers who will be eliminated from the "real playoffs" in the first or second round.
Losers get money. Not that much when split into these parties. https://www.forbes.com/sites/antoni...ow-about-the-new-competition/?sh=82f364266a37
So silver medals, conference championship, second place trophies etc are now also part of the kulturkampf - thanks for the update I'll certainly take that under deep advisement
The media is responsible for that. And fans wanting to bolster their heroes feed the media. And ignorance predominates the fans.

It's ok, they're all down in the lab working on a 474 slide ppt deck to fix it next year. We're in good hands now that GPT is here

MOOOAR PATCHES!!! I think oil money has spilled into everything else, so why not sports, too? This may be the beginnings of a global league/tournament. Who knows. At least they got a good airline to sponsor it. Not that I was really worried somebody like Spirit would be a sponsor. lol.
