I did a little research and found that in or around '91, the BSA declared themselves a private organization and in doing so lost federal funding as well as not being able to receive support from United Way and other similar organizations.

Cool. I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think the idea behind what the Boy Scouts are doing is bigoted, but I'm leaning towards thinking they should be able to do it.

Now, I'm all for the Scout to take his case public with the idea of pressuring the BSA to change their ridiculous policy.

I think there is a difference between being exclusionary and being bigoted. In fact, I know there is.

    I'd second that.

Still, just scanning over the thread again, I don't see anything bigoted said by anyone who disagrees with the Boy Scouts. You can call someone stupid for believing in a certain policy and not be considered bigoted.

I read another report where they supposedly said it could be anything, like "mother nature" or something. If I were him I would declare a belief in Satan or some other non-chrisitian deity to make the council look like jackasses.
