    From personal experience, the op article seems to ring true. Whether it be poor students or successful wealthy people, those who are conservative/republican tend to be more charitable in all ways.

    That's why I personally like to differentiate conservatives from Republican POLITICIANS. The former tend to be good people while the latter tend to be scum for the most part.

    Whether or not I agree with the giving differential, I do think noting the difference between conservative and Republican is at the core of the debate in this thread and confusion in general about the OP article.

    I think my arguments in the thread, which have not been that great, work well for the data on GOP members (which I cited) but have little to do with the notion of self-identified "conservatives." Cheers.

    This is so true...They don't spend their own money...Libs say just tax the rich to pay for the social programs...I'm not rich, but know Obama will tax the hell out of everything...I'd rather be in control of who I donate to, not let the govt. decide for me...
