Most of this should be blamed on Social Media. Social media channels people to the far wings or their party. They promote far radical content. They should have banned Trump accounts long ago. Long ago.

He knows this is how things works, and he's exploiting it, essentially acting as a foreign agent to tear apart the fabric of our country. Meaning, this is what foreign countries can only hope to do to us. AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY IS DOING IT.

Invoke the 25th. Reform social media. Start by banning him for life.

I place the blame first and foremost on Trump and the sedition caucus of the Republican Party. Everyone else can do better but let’s not distract from the root cause.

Of course they bear the brunt of the blame. But, when you know how to exploit a certain system, you're going to do it. That's clearly what Trump is doing. That's clearly what many people in his type of power have been doing for the last 200 years. And I mean in his type of power both before and during his presidency.

Social media is a tool. A tool that can be used for good or bad. Trump uses it to do harm. I don’t really blame the tool. I blame the person using it.

This is a good point. It's akin to saying guns don't kill people, people kill people. Why didn't we ban Trump from social media months ago. If someone is deranged, as Trump clearly is, they can't pass a mental check to get a gun, for at least that is how the system is designed to work.

Capitol Rioters Planned for Weeks in Plain Sight. The Police Weren’t Ready.
Insurrectionists made no effort to hide their intentions, but law enforcement protecting Congress was caught flat-footed.

I agree social media is a problem but it's not the root causes. The problem that I see with social media is that the toothpaste has long been squeezed out of the tube and it's going to be nearly impossible to put back. We see with things like Parler that regulating things like Twitter and Facebook means that another outlet will sprout up.

Not exactly. Annoying for me to say this twice in a thread, but I recommend watching The Social Delimma (on Netflix). They go into why social media is not a tool.
