why do the people involved have to be noteworthy or controversial? the act itself is, or rather, the act as a result of what they were debating.

 

So what is there to debate about the act?

Hitting women is wrong. Hitting people because of their race is wrong.

The act as a result of what they were debating..? How does that make it any more noteworthy? They were debating, he went too far. People get carried away in arguments. I see nothing exceptional about that.

Why? You dont believe in equality of the sexes? Women will never be equal to men until ALL men can freely swing their fists at random women in the same manner they can a random guy without fear of additional repercussions.
