They say he impressed at the Bobcats' workout today: http://aol.sportingnews.com/nba/fee...ck-biyombo-2011-nba-draft-workout-congo-spain
@TheHoopsReport Ryan Feldman BREAKING: I was told by a trusted league source today at NBA Draft media day that Bismack Biyombo has a medical red flag with his back.
It was gratifying to see Bismack name Hakeem Olajuwon as his favorite player. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/6679686/your-deal
Daryl Morey cursed him just by being in the gym at his workout in Italy. Yes, I agree with you guys most likely late breaking injury news = red flag. I mean, we've seen this story before.. injury panic struck with D. Arthur and D. Blair, too.
So Morey is treating players before they get drafted as assets??? Fire him nowzzzzzz At our current range, I am still all over Byombo/Motiejunas and Tobias Harris/Singleton nutz for some odd reason. But there is no chance we draft #14 and #23, we will move, a lot of uncertainty still at this point. PeAcE
Reading this made me an instant fan of the guy. Seems like a high character type of dude with a relentless work ethic. Naming Hakeem as your favorite player doesn't hurt either.
new Bismack footage? <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/s6Ho_dsWHvk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
That does not look anything like the Bismack's footage. That guy moves like most people that size -- awkwardly, a little clumsily, herky-jerky -- the same way Hasheem Thabeet jumps and moves. Bismack moves like an athlete -- fluidly, quickly and with power. I am willing to start taking the following prop bets for the Bismack (dependent on what team he goes to and the buy out is not an issue): Bismack will lead his team in shot blocking Bismack will be on the 1st or 2nd all rookie teams.
With a massive wingspan like he has, he is probably doomed to have back spasms later on like Tracy McGrady (but that was because he was lazy, right?). Also, I don't trust players going straight from Africa to the NBA (his 4 month professional career in some ABC Spanish league does not impress). Dekembe, Hakeem, Manute, etc all had some collegiate level experience. Ibaka has had some success, but even Ibaka makes Chuck Hayes look like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on offense.
Quoting the article by Thorpe that hsf09 posted earlier: If Thorpe's assessment can be trusted, this guy isn't going to be Joey Dorsey/Stro Swift. He is more than just an elite athlete, he is smart and has good defensive instincts. Regarding his age, he measured half an inch taller at the Adidas Eurocamp than he did at the Nike Hoops Summit. If the measurements are accurate and he grew half an inch in a few months, perhaps he really is 18....
NOOOOOOOOOOO! Charlotte moved up to 7 to take the Bismack before the Pistons could trade the 8th pick to the Rockets where they would have taken him. I can feel the optimism draining out of me for the future. I hope Morey ups the ante and moves up to 6 to get the Bismack.
