It's plain to see, from the Top to the Bottom, there are many bright spots on this team. A lot to be hopeful for. After the deadline, once I collected myself and concluded that they really didn't NEED to trade Gordon or Wood. That's when the "What ifs" kicked in and I began to feel optimistic. What if they never intended to trade Wood just for the sake of making a trade? What if they actually see him as a trade piece this offseason?! MY biggest hope is that they keep developing our young talent and that the fans can eventually move on and with enough electro-shock therapy can accept that we did not draft Evan Mobley.
Let me list them Zen: Point Guard: Kevin Porter jr. [ last 11 games] 47.7% (FG%)...50.0% (3P%)...7.3 ast...1.0 stl...16.5 pts Good starter next year I'm hoping Schroder plays well and re-signs with Rockets this summer for $5M or less. Point Guard would be set (Porter jr / Schroder / Nix) ___________________ Shooting Guard Jalen Green (Starter) game muscle/mass, endurance for 82 games Mathews (backup) Josh Christopher (3rd string) Shooting Guard is set __________________ Small Forward Tate (Set to be Starter) needs to develop a 3-pt shot Kenyon jr (backup) keep improving his 3-pt shot Small Forward seems set. I still wish for the 6'8" wings that can shoot 3's at high volume with a good % __________________ Power Forward C Wood (starter) capable of 20 pts, 10 rebs, 1.3 blks One of: Jabari Smith, Banchero, Chet drafted as backup Power Forward would be set. Decision to extend Wood during or at the end of 22/23 season. __________________ Center Sengun (Starter) Be ready for at least 24 minutes a game x 82 games next season. Garuba (backup) Need to learn what he can do. Center might need greater experience at backup. Possibly draft another late first round to go with Garuba. Timme, Hunter Dickinson ___________________________________________________________________________ Future looks bright. And I hope people are able to get over me using the terms PG, SG, SF, PF, Center. Not really, I don't care.
Just providing balance. It's not all bad all the time, and the disgruntled fans are often the loudest. Calling me a troll for posting about the positives regarding the team we allegedly root for only proves my point
All of this is ugly bball and I don't see grit in the team's dna yet. Maybe that's not something Silas can own yet since he doesn't have a stable roster or vets who have a future on this team. I mean you trade Wood and EG for more one year rentals, and it's pretty damning to chemistry and development. What I'm seeing though is poor FT shooting, blown assignments (lack of effort more concerning), and all around bipolar offenses. Typical signs of a rookie team. I hope an insider can clear things up and give hope that Silas is prioritizing that. We better tank and get top 3. Otherwise, things aren't looking bright anywhere.
Jabari Smith can really play SF and can be a good 3 and D guy. If we Jabari Smith he will play SF and Tate on the bench and draft Kessler for backup Center. He is a shot block monster
Ohhhhhh I like that plan I can see Jabari at 6'11" playing SF. I just don't want Wood playing SF except in switching duties. Or even Chet playing SF at 7'0". I love it, I love you, Dynasty Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Porter /Schroder (not necessarily in that order if you know what I mean) Jalen Green Jabari Smith or Chet C Wood Sengun Wow, just wow. I'm mad for not thinking of that myself. It so obvious. Tip of the cap to you!
That's what I'm talking about with Green. Like when we got Capela. Have him on 4 or 5 meals a day program. Lol Just until he gets to 195 pounds.
Jabari would play PF if drafted by the Rockets. If still on team, Gordon (Mathews if not) at SF with Green and Porter at the guards. If Rockets can get Jabari or Chet. I see Wood traded in the offseason such that Sengun would start.
