I’m a Neato Botvac fan. I have the original and it’s still going strong. They also sponsor a robot wars team which is pretty cool and geeky. That said, I haven’t been in the market for a long time so they may not be the best.
We bought the Roborock with the mop option. It seems to do alright. It too was a gift request. I'm not sold on it for the rugs, but it works pretty well on the wood floors. There tend to be good deals online, so definitely look around (I use slickdeals)...
I got a Roborock 5 a few years ago. It was the most well reviewed at the time. Check out the YouTube channel Vacuum Wars. They test all sorts of vacuums, robot included.
Is robotwars different from BattleBots? Asking seriously because my five year old loves BattleBots and we watch a lot of it. Edit: googled and watched some highlights with him. Thanks!
I think there's another thread somewhere about them. My personal opinion is that they're better at scaring your pets than actually keeping your house clean.
4:24 AM Saturday -- a passionate discussion breaks out in a bathroom packed with a dozen people... BRO WHAT IS THE BEST ROBOT VACUUM!!?!!
They just had one on sale on Amazon for like $90 that got pretty good reviews. I checked it out because I never saw one priced so low. I was in shock. Those things used to run way expensive.
Has anyone voted for tin(y)man yet? He posts robotically, and he sucks, so might work out for someone's home?
Most of the people I know who bought them basically say they're "ok", but for the money spent, it probably either wasn't worth it or was "meh". The problem in the past is that they really don't have a lot of suction compared to a regular vacuum. They've gotten better in that regard. I thought about getting one, but I keep getting these "meh" reviews from people and keep talking myself out of it. I'm also one of these people that still have carpet (and tile), so that's another issue - they may work better on hard floors than carpet - I don't know.
